If you're spending the money in my opinion RENEN is worth it.  For some reason I have no money spending money on gear, but I won't buy a new sweatshirt for three years and as a result I currently have a set of FLY, Alpinestars, TLD, and two sets of RENEN. I feel like jerseys are kind of a wash, but the RENEN jersey is slightly heavier than the others with bonus points for longer sleeves (I'm 6'7").  Pants however is where the RENEN gear wins. They're heavier, but with real leather knees, also thick in the stretch areas on top of knee where all my other gearsets have holes from my knees hitting the bars with knee braces on (again 6'7") that the RENEN pants haven't gotten yet.

There's no doubt that the RENEN gear is expensive, but I think it's worth it.

I saw earlier that someone loves the itrack gloves from 100% and I loved them too, until I crashed and smashed three fingers to bits.  The fingers would have broken in any glove between the hardpack and handlebars, but the itrack gloves just disintegrated and my broken fingers looked like hamburger meat.

Its gotten to a point that most gloves do not really offer much more than some protection against abrasion. But impacts , not many have anything to help absorb that energy.   The Sinisalo SCD gloves that were covered in foam with lycra over it. Offered protection from roost and still let You move around. I don't remember them being very hot to wear. Pants, jerseys and gloves have gone more towards the comfort side of things. And are less and less protective. Leatt has some gloves with the energy absorbing material in them that they use in helmets .

Five brand gloves  has the most comfortable glove I have worn. The MXF Prorider S. They feel like a broken in pair of gloves right away. Easy to move around and grip. totally unrestrictive and the material they use in the palm is a type of polyester that was engineered to be similar to synthetic spyderweb. It gets grippier when it gets wet. Holds up amazing . I used to sell them before MTA went under. And my friends who got them from me are still using them now. Both race or ride at least 1 time per week. One is a local Pro/expert level racer who rides in 2 or 3 classes per weekend.  He has 2 or 3 pairs of them that he rotates out with his gear. His first set outlasted everything but his SG12's.  I searched to see if anybody else uses the palm material and I found 1 other MX glove. I do not remember the model, but it was made by O'Neal. They are still a minimalistic style glove though. slight palm padding. Which I have never liked in any other gloves until these. And not really much on the top of the hand. I'm not sure where to buy them now.

I was approached by a rep for TLD . How has the TLD gear been for you? I'm 6'9" tall and when I was younger and slimmer, I used to have problems with pants being long enough to tuck into my boots! Now that I've gained an entire supermodel in pounds and inches around my waist, the pants are plenty long enough for me from Thor and Moose. Moose fits my Sasquatch size in the way I like to wear gear the best so far.

Yeah I know that most gloves don't offer impact protection, but the material of the itracks shredded in the crash, not the seams but the fabric itself on the top side of the fingers, I still have the gloves.

Regarding TLD, no complaints, sleeves are a bit short, but no shorter than the fly or a-stars.  I know that none of my pants are too short to reach the boot, but I do know off the top of my head that the RENEN pants make it all the way to the booties of my Tech10s.

I agree with you on the durability side but the set that I bought (Slayco collab), the shirt was very short! Maybe that was unique to the slayco (Axel hodges) design. Is this not the case on their regular shirts?

All good if you are sponsored or can afford it, but back in the 80s and 90s we used the same gear for years and it was still good.
Same boots, same nylons, same jersey, with only the occasional new jersey or helmet to freshen the look. Gloves were the only thing that regularly wore out, and boots eventually. Didn’t matter if it was Fox, Shift or even O’Neal. What the hell happened?!

I’ve still got a set of the 2002 Fox 360 Honda gear. Rode the heck out of it in my younger years and I swear it still looks new. More comfortable fit than the current stuff too. Where did we go wrong?

Which Renen pants do you have? I tried a pair but they didn’t have any stretch in the crotch. That really restricted leg movement. Also, the bottom elastic was too small for my feet to get through. Had to tear it first time wearing them.

The materials were top notch though! I’d buy another pair if they added some crotch stretch!

FXR is absolute junk. worst fitting, cheapest quality gear I have ever owned. Literally zero crotch room. Feels like women's pants. Laughably bad. Both knees ripped to shreds in a week. Shame because I do like the designs. Fasthouse look is kind of played out but it's the only modern gear that was designed to fit a human being, and it holds up very well.

I have three sets of gear currently in use.

Fly F16 - Probably 100 hours on them, they are lower end but made thick and have lasted well. Just don't vent or feel as comfortable as other gear sets. Good for a mudder.

Fox flexair - 4 seasons (2 barely riding) 150-200 hours. Really can't rave enough about how great it is, fits really well, very comfortable, vents well and has held up great to a lot of crashes. Ripped to shreds now after multiple bone breaks in it but still my favourite gear and I cant throw it away because it's so damn great

TLD GP - 10 hours new set. Unfortunately because I like the brand and think it's the best looking set up I've ever had I just can't get comfortable in the pants. Not to brag but it's too tight on the crotch and I find the leather section on the knees keeps twisting as I grip the bike so they end up pointing forward. I'm still hoping it'll bed in a little because as I said it looks amazing. The jersey and gloves are the best fitting and feeling I've ever had though.

Friend of mine used alpinestars and it was really good quality stuff, I wouldn't hesitate on alpinestars

I'm with you 100% on the fit of the TLD GP pants. I think when they say "Racer" fit, they mean "Trans woman racer."

You have to wear them really low on your hips or no crotch room. That is the biggest complaint I have with TLD. I have only tried on the GP and GP Air so I don't know if the higher level TLD gear is better. Fly seems to have the most room down there.

To the guy asking about TLD pants length being too short I think they extended the GP/GP Air within the last couple of years but as always try it on first.

I bought a set of Troy Lee "Mono" pants in blue and the black/white top several years ago.  They fit good but when I saw pictures of myself all I saw was a mono blue butt and I didn't like that.  So... I decided to just wear them out and move on.  That was 3 enduro seasons ago and the darn things are still going.

I did manage to tear the jersey up a little when I hit a tree and poked a sharp branch thru a hole in my chest protector.  It went about 3/4" into my pectoral but when I pulled it out, I found out that the TLD jersey didn't rip and therefore the whole thing came out super clean (except for the blood all over the place).

I use the TLD super padded shorts and those things are awesome.  I use the Skyline Chill jersey, Ruckus, and Skyline pants for MTB's and they're great, too.

I'm kind of a TLD fan now.

In all my years of riding TLD has been the best for longevity. You guys complaining about the crotch area obviously have too much bunda filling them out.

I don’t know about the durability yet but I just picked up 3 full sets of MSR stuff on RMATV for 120 bucks. Pants, jersey, and gloves. I have two races tomorrow so I’ll circle back about how they do.

This is the NXT stuff, pants retail at 169.00 and are currently 29.00 on Rocky mtn.

I have a Thor jersey that simply won't wear out.  I've been wearing it for at least 20 years.

I have others now, but back then it was my only jersey.  I'm very impressed with the quality.

How is the fit and ventilation compared to Fly, Astars, etc?

The ventilation was awesome, and the fit I would say is athletic meaning it’s tight but very comfortable. I raced two 50 minute motos and was very happy with the wear and performance of the stuff, for the price it’s pretty damn good.
