On MxLarge (link via Web Archive), Geoff wrote a article where he for most part downplays Jorge Prado' interests in US Supercross & Motocross. He accuses the 2023 World Champion MXGP from doing this US SX testing to create more leverage to earn more money.
"Prado is a very intelligent man, and he knows his worth on the World scene. He also knows Triumph and Ducati would pay big dollars for him in 2025, so maybe this interest in America has something to do with leveraging his worth in the sport in Europe? Would Triumph and Ducati pay millions and millions for him to stay in MXGP or would GasGas/KTM or Husqvarna want to double those offers to have him stay under the Austrian umbrella?"
Maybe Jorge Prado has something different on his mind, such as becoming the first rider in the modern era to win all prime championships. He has already both MX2 and MXGP World Championships and he could go for AMA Supercross & AMA Motocross in the 450 class. Bit it like J.M. Bayle did with 125 & 250 World Chp. and 250SX, 250MX & 500MX AMA Chp.
IMO, it's a shitty article.
It's from Jiff, so that should have been obvious before reading.....!
Geoff is such a piece.
Like Prado hasn't weighed up his options while figuring out what he'd like to do...
He should ask Luongo why Prado dreams about the US, or why many riders dream about racing in the US, I know the answer, Geoff knows the answer and Luongo himself probably knows it, but he isn't doing anything to prevent European talent from going to the US scene, the way to keep riders in Europe means investing money/time in the MXGP which means lower profits.
The AMA Series is growing thanks to Feld and MXSports creating the SMX Series, they listen to the Teams/Riders about rules, what to do to improve racing... Meanwhile in the MXGP Series when riders have something to say they are silenced or made look as the bad guys (Ernee 2022 qualy race), or having those qualy races that no racer wants because they don't have winning bonuses on that, or even worst, no price money from Infront.
Don't forget to travel across the World to race at a Parking lot because Infront doesn't want to put money into creating a World class venue outside of Europe, better have tracks like Turkey or the old Indonesia GP at the hotel parking lot, Thailand to, Oh and don't forget, only for 19 riders to show up because only factory/big teams can afford to race it, because Infront doesn't help smaller/privateer teams.
Having no production rule has increased the costs to have a competitive bike, you know why KTM isn't struggling in the GPS with the New generation frame unlike the US based team? Simple, it's not the same frame, it's a custom build one, making it harder for privateer KTM teams to have a competitive bike.
Any many other thinks i'm probably forgetting, but in short, Feld/MXSports target is to grow the Sport so they can make more money, and Infront wants easy money by not investing in the Series, the results? Euro kids dream about racing under the lights of Anaheim, and It has been like that for many years

Geoff is just a sore JH fan
He is coming. He seems to be a great kid I think he will do really well on and off the bike.
But,but, but. Its says World in the title. Lol. . they know what series is better, but wont say it.
Is he stupid ?
or maybe just plain retarded
Depends on what you mean by "better". MXGP has wayyyy cooler tracks than the US, such a variety of surfaces, and cool scenery. All of the US tracks try to duplicate each other. Ripped deep to shit, some kind of signature booter, and some rollers in a turn. Let us not forget they have a true 125 class.
Having said that, at least the US has full gates and top-notch facilities. The one-day format kinda blows...along with timed qualifying
I guess thats what i meant. But there is a reason the. Mxgp guys want to race in the usa.
I wouldn't go that far.
No, he's just Infront's minister of propaganda, that's all.
Yes there is- supercross.
Yep $$
In his latest podcast he said multiple times he doesn’t care for records. He just wants to race, at the highest level, and is very much sounds like the US is where he has always wanted to be.
He’s always said he wanted to come over and race sx. Atleast since 2016 when he came over before he said since he started racing his goal was to race Ama supercross.
