How many of you old fossil's..

I remember it, though I never raced there. Speaking of remembering, How many old school So.Cal CMC pro's remember the 3 weekly night races? Ascot on Wednesday night, OCIR on Thursday night, and Irwindale on Friday night. That was some awesome racing back then, especially at Irwindale for the "King of the hill". 2 Pro's from the 125,250 & Open class on the track, running it backwards. That was great, too bad nobody does that now.

Irwindale, 2 lap moto's. Finish your race, and just head right back to the start line. David Taylor ruled there.

Hey SE7ENMX: Did you ever race at Fremont Drag strip on Friday Night? I think Bill Spencer put those on.

BAYLANDS was wednesday nights and friday nights too...different eras but i think they were held on both days..sat too.

at one time i raced tuesday night motos at petaluma fairgrounds on tuesday night, baylands on wednesday night, sandhill on friday night then sunday at wherever. made over a grand a week easy and i was only 14 or 15 years old.

Trickster, I did. That place was fun. Remember Ron Self? I have a picture of him running over my head. Danny Turner, running those numbers on his helmet that reflected from the lights. Bobby, Placerville nite moto, hang out up at Sam's on Saturday, race Helvetia on Sunday. Going swimming in the pool after your moto was sweet! Punched David Ernst in the mouth at Fremont, pissed me off. If you remember the night the rent a cop shot that guy. It was right in front of my van. Not cool. Oh! the memories.

Sam's Town.... that was race headquarters for the Hangtown Nats, right? Stayed in that parking lot bunch of nights in my van.

Those were the days Bobby

We sure stayed there alot. Easy food and decent campground.

Sams town was race central for Hangtown most of the time but one year they had tech at sunrise mall. Does anybody remember that? Its been buging me for a while that I cant remember the year but if I had to guess I'd say 77 or78.

Dont remember night mx but in 1965/66 I used to go to the drag races.

Wow...Came across this old post and thought i would bring it back. I raced my very first motocross at Lyon's in 1970 and raced there every friday nite for quite a while then joined AMA district 37, raced most all the old tracks around then. One of my best memories at Lyon's was Desoto on that Susuki flat out around the start area.

Holy cow this an old post. Anybody know how Big Lenny is?

Did my first moto race there in 1970. Spectated lots of times on Friday nites as it was only 15 minutes from my house.

Oh yeah, and how about the one time D37 ran a daytime motocross there, Spring of 72? they added a really big honkin' straightaway out north, then a hairpin, and back, high gear all the way, max dusty, lots of nasty crashes, cartwheeling Bultaco Bandito comes to mind--just missed it, or it just missed me, whatever. Funny night time track, lots of little turns left right left, then that huge jump.

How about anyone ride El Toro Speedway on Fridays? Mess around in the 1/4 mile dirt track infield, then up a ramp, made of doubled 3/4 inch plywood, over the turn 3 fence and up onto the hillside, then around back of the fence and a long straightaway in the dark. Sheesh.

The Dunes International course at night Fridays? that was fun--in the winter of '72, Jeff Ward ran his nitro XR75 in the 125 Pro class, last night of the season, and beat everyone. Don't see that too often, he went about out of sight down into the whoops, but he never shut off and beat a bunch of hotrodded CR125's. Nighttime mx was the grandaddy of supercross, I guess.

How about major fun at old West Capital in Sacto....Not really MX...Scrambles track...Not class C....and then a little later on, good racing at Sacto Raceway.
