All they want is food? Uh-huh. They showed on ABC World News these people were looting stores for whatever they could get, stepping over corpses to do it. One segment they showed all these people trampling each other to get cases of rum !

They had a earthquake in '08 in China that killed ~68,000 and I dont recall seeing one report of looting or rioting, only the really poor people working together to help each other.

Very interesting contrast of culture.
This is China's version of crowd control.

To me, sitting back and generalizing and making comments about the "culture" of the people of Haiti based on the looters is probably not accurate or fair. That's what you did. It's no biggie, but I am sure there are many good people there trying to help their neighbors as there are thieves and looters.

And drawing a parallel with China was also faulty logic, because as I said our own society also has looters and crime. So if you are making that judgment of Haiti based on that logic then you must also apply that logic to the US.
You responded with an editorial about the blacks of New Orleans. Since Haiti is majority black, I think the general drift of your attitude is that blacks are innately less moral or law-abiding than white based on genetics and race, rather than any environmental or historical factors.
Is that correct? I mean, that's fine, if that's what your point is. I am just wondering.
I figured somebody would try to paint me with the racist brush. You can arrive at any conclusion you want. Im not pointing any fingers at any race. I said exactly what my point was, and its ALL about culture. I responded with a article by a man who's opinion I usually find myself agreeing with regarding recent riots & looting and his point is about culture and community.

Okay- I guess I misunderstood. I guess my only point is that the level of authority and stability is a factor in the looting, and it's not because there are more bad people there. I think the sense of "community" in China is more a case of a massively powerful governmental structure. I am sure a looter there would be shot on sight, and his family gets a bill for the bullet.

How does this nation come back from this.
Dead are already dead, that leaves us with the living. Housing wasnt good before, wont be any better soon. Do the nations - the US rebuild Haiti? It appears they havent the means to do it themselves. Does the country get absorbed into another and those tax dollars pay for the rebuild? Or is it going to be one big donation. Not knowing, what does Haiti export? What is the value of the country to the rest of the world?

When hurricane Andrew hit Miami guess which neighborhoods had the worst looting?Wink

As far as Israel they're like the one brother in-law in the family nobody really wants to talk about. But when a dirty deed needs done he's the one that get's the call. And you don't want to piss him off at the 4th of July party!

I heard on the radio the politicians have gotten over 6 billion from the USA in the past few years.

Fixed it.

That place is corrupt with a capital C. The non-natives there are either government or World Ministry help orgs. Not much business or tourism.
Although ministries are there, they are not the only NGO's. George Soros's organization is the largest there and puts the most money into it. That's who the current president works for, and how she got chosen.
