I hit Rick Sieman's Facebook page now and again to see what he's up to. It looks like his health has taken a bad turn. His daughter has started a GoFund me page to help with medical expenses. She gives some details on his situation and it doesn't sound good. I donated earlier today as I felt like I owed him at least a little pay back for all the joy he has given me over the years with his journalistic wit. If it wasn't for him, I may not have gotten into this crazy dirt bike hobby for the last 50+ years. Maybe you will feel the same way...
Thanks for sharing this.
Very sad news.
The man is a legend and a treasure to our sport, one who we all owe a HUGE debt of gratitude. Bought some books from him last year, one had a printing issue and I emailed him....he sent me out a new copy right away. We exchanged a few emails which was pretty cool to me...his writings were a big part of my formative years. If you haven't read his books, you need to.
Hate to hear dementia is taking him. Watching my mom go thru this and it's hell.
God bless you Rick. My prayers go out to you and your family.
I like books, what does he sell?
Mind posting a link?
It's a bit of a manual process. Here is his Facebook page.
https://www.facebook.com/superhunky
Essentially you email his daughter with what you want and your mailing address and then send a check or pay via paypal, etc.
Read the August 11 post on the link above for full instructions.
Very unfortunate to hear this news. He is an absolute legend of this sport and has given back so much to the sport that has had a positive ripple effect to each and every one of us.
I've bought everything of his I could throughout the years. When "The Last Ride" came out I bought three copies so I could share it with friends. It looks like his website is no longer up, I bought direct from there before. Your best bet to purchase something would be email - superhunky@gmail.com
Here is another link I found with some products of his: Super Hunky Is Selling Autgraphed Books, Posters - Adventure Rider (advrider.com)
I will be donating to the gofundme as well, the least we can do for decades of entertainment and fighting for our sport.
Thanks Super Hunky.

I loved his column and there were times I was in tears laughing reading them . Years ago I bought something from him through the Marks Vintage Swapmeet site . I had some email communication with him and when I said how much I liked his columns he said oh you're the guy who read them , lol . I'm truly saddened to hear what he and his family are going through .
Just sent an email to Cindy requesting some stuff for Xmas...... If anyone here has a genuine love for this sport, I strongly suggest you help in any way you can. Rick is a true legend..... He deserves our help. I cannot believe I'm saying this, but I can actually remember learning how to read in the back of our family moto van with my Aunt, sounding out words from the "From the Saddle" column in Dirt Bike. I was 3.......
Very sad news. Love his “WITD Machine” story, among many others, not to mention his no punches held review of the SC500! Wishing Super Hunky all the best.
ML....Pin This NOW. He deserves it.
Why is there a 15% tip? I wanted to donate $100 bucks but don't want a f*ckn fee!
You don’t have to tip to contribute. Just move the slider to 0% from the 15% default. The whole tip thing is out of control these days.
GYDBT
Oh man,
His old columns, from the 70's, are legendary.
I bought the CD with all his stories from Dirt Bike and Modern Cycle and will enjoy reading them.
I wanted to buy that but I no longer see they list it as one of the items they are selling.
I would ask, they may still have some.
No joy...Cindy says they're all gone.
Any chance you could drop them on Google Drive for download.... I will donate whatever they cost (and plus) to Ricks GoFundme page.
I will try. The problem I have is the new lap top I have doesn't have a CD/DVD drive on it and I haven't been even able to read them myself. I'll see if my tech guy can copy them to a jump drive and then I could use the share file at Goggle Drive. Hopefully that could help Hunky out.
Pit Row
Exactly what I bought back then
Thanks for sharing this, I just donated as well. Hang in there shipmate, we’ve got your back!
Nice...thanks for the effort!
My wife allows three moto books to be used in her decor. Rick Sieman, Malcolm Smith and Jeremy McGrath.
Grew up reading his column. Two favorites were the one where he sets out to clean the shop (and ends up keeping everything after looking through it), and the one where he uses Preston Petty’s “10lbs=1hp” to determine that after using every available hop-up, he needs to gain weight.
On the more serious side, he fought really hard against the tide of greenies trying to ruin our sport. Sadly, time has shown he was 100% correct on many fronts regarding land use and our government.
Sad to hear of his current situation. He is a true icon.
More than a 1/3 of the way there...
There's a few of us trying to bootstrap a basic shopify site for Cindy to put his stuff up on to eliminate the manual ordering. She's pretty overwhelmed with everything right now. I'll keep you posted.
What kind of “human” downvotes this?
Awesome that you guys are doing this!
I can only imagine what she has on her plate. But they are on top of it... When I emailed regarding the merch, Rick first responded and then Cindy responded within an hour.
There are some sorry-ass excuses for humans on this board. But i'm guessing the downvote is aimed at me, not the content of the post. There are some who downvote everything I post. Just imagine the mental state of someone who does this... pathetic.
Holy crap...
This thing is taking off... more than 1/2 way there.
