Who knows, I could be wrong and he'll show up for the rest of the series as the fastest guy...but judging the Chad Reed I've been watching for the past (however many years he's been racing over here), I don't see it in him.

Reed beat RC 6 times in a row (I think....possibly more) at the end of the 03 season, and I think just as many times in 05, when he DNF'd A1.

Sure, Stewart and Dungey will have to have a bad round for Reed to win the title, but I (and most others) would be shocked if he wasn't in the running for race wins.
I would be shocked if Reed is anywhere close to being in the running for race wins. 2nds and 3rds maybe but not 1sts. It would be great for us if he is but I just don't see it happening.

Where do u get that from how can u say he will not be in a position for race wins. What are u basing that on his prior performances? Ha

Probably bet the farm that he could come back from a 25 point deficit to take the championship

The way i look at it is that was only one race and the track was really hard to flow and carry speed on. I do beleive there is gonna be some epic battles between Dungey and Reed and it will only help out Stewart . RV will heal up and eventually get to full speed but the only guy that will stop james from winning a title is james, or a mechanical DNF... The guy is just to fast and will never show his true speed unless he has to....

Yes prior performance since I can't go on anything else. How can you say he will be, from prior performance? Ha. How many races did he win last year?

Exactly he has beaten stewart on more occasions than anyone else out racing on the track this year so how can you say he is know no longer a contender. Yeah he might not of beaten Stewart Straight up but who gives a shit if he can stay on the bike for a win its just as deserved beating the guy straight up.

Everyone is going on Practice times that he is no longer the 2nd fastest. Why dont you actually wait and see him race a full race then make a judgement if he is out of contension. Him and Stewart were in a class of there own last year and know one else came close.

Out of contention? Not even but how many races did he win last year? How many did Stewart win?

You do reralize that RD was the only guy all day to hit the 55's right? He got one in his heat..could be why Stewart made those changes to his bike for the main. With that said there could be some more epic battels between James and Chad which could help RD out too! He was the fatstest man at A1 and faster than JS for 10 of the 20 laps.. just couldn't maintian the lead he pulled.

Here's my prediction for the season ending points battle:

It will be Dungey with a slight lead over Villopoto. Reed will be out of it and Stewart will be trying to 'win out' for the title after a mid-season DNF.

Do any of you guys look at lap-times? Do you watch to see how hard/easy of a time a rider has during a "fast-lap"? (A lap where they are obviously trying to get a good time)

Reed couldn't put it together all day/nite at A1...never got on the poll (Top 5 lap-times) during timed practice.

I can see Windham, Short, Brayton and Hill beating -BOTH- Factory Kawi's on more than a few ocassions based on how they all looked throughout the entire day/nite.

(Stewart and Dungey are "A given"...)

This isn't what I necessarily WANT to happen; but, the boys in the Green Tent jus' don't look too good, yet.

I'm jus' sayin'...

Sure,
And CR had the entire Aussie series.
RV has been testin' plenty and raced at the USSX.

Neither one of them looked anywhere NEAR as comfortable as the other names I brought up...hell...Shorty was hittin' the Trip's during his FIRST LAP of the Day...I've -NEVER- seen that outta him.

EVER.

I'll even throw it out there that it was, indeed, "A1"; and there are always "A1 Jitters"...

However, 8 minute "free-practice", -2- 15 minute "Timed" practices, 2 Heats, 1 LCQ and a 20 Lap Main give everyone plenty of time to get it figured out.

It gives me plenty of time to see who can "settle in" VERY, V-E-R-Y quickly...which is a "Pre-Requisite" this season.

Things have changed this year...

Remember to keep this filed away so that you can throw it in my face in a few weeks...

I'm jus' sayin'...
Well then...

reliable sources say reed had a terrible weekend overall, feeling like shit, pukey and nauseous and not 100% physically up to the task.

nerves, virus or stress...whatever it is he wasn't looking good last week. this week i hope he rebounds so we can all play musical bandwagons again. Smile

I wonder if flying 20+ hours back and forth to the US has anything to do with him getting sick often?

We know one thing..Reed won't go away, and he will come back racing hard. Even if he doesn't beat James, maybe he'll make it interesting at the races.

My opinion...the only reason James caught Dungey was because Dungey hit traffic and wasn't as aggressive as James is in traffic.

I still think Reed will be James' biggest competition this year. I don't see Dungey being able to sustain that pace and consistency for 17 rounds as a rookie. Obviously we don't know. But it does seem like Reed steps up his game when the chips are down and perhaps takes it a little easier when he has room to give (like last year).

I guess you don't understand. We were talking about wins as in 1st place. That top spot on the podium not who beat who, but since you want to go there. Reed beat Stewart 5 times. How many times did Stewart beat Reed?

The same has been said about James in the past...quite a bit. My point was that everyone keeps saying Dungey needs to find speed... He's got speed, I say he needs to go on a "slow" diet (preferably after lap 15)Silly

Let's not get carried away. He would have had to pass James, and held him off to the checkers. Easier said than done.

I just don't see how you could write off any of the top 10 guys after the the first race. You never know who is or isn't going to have a good year, I know it's cliche but that's way they run races.

It seems so many people get satifaction out of seeing Chad fail for whatever reason whether they have an undersized trouser snake or what. Anyway hope he does well and shuts a few people up ... Chad and Bubba really get a hard time on these forums... its the price they pay for being so good... soon Dungey is probably going to have a clan of haters now he has stepped it up.
