Looks good for sure.

Id be surprised if he can make it this late in the game though. Saw a 9 year old on a 65 a couple months ago at the track beating him.

although, with the right resources anything is possible I guess. And I’m sure he’s got the right genes lol

Didn't McGrath start riding at age 15?

Malcom was a fairly "unserious" amateur and still managed to be at LL every year and do relatively well. Tate has never even made LL or even come close. He gets beat by local kids who don't even race seriously. If he was not chad reeds kid, he would just be another kid at the track you wouldn't even look twice.

I agree somewhat, but I think that’s the point of the thread, his rapid improvement, particularly on a SX track.

Tate may or may not make it, but I’ve lost track of the number of kids who were absolute speed merchants in junior racing and never turned out to be anything special as an adult.
Meanwhile there’s others who were mid pack on an 80 and ended up being contenders as a pro.

I think he’s making great strides,   22 is got some really good content. I learn a ton from Chad on these videos and you can really see Tate  soak it all up. Awesome to see the progress.

I hate that you are a dick  But i cant change that .   The point is Malcolm , Like  Blake  ,Like Pacer , Like others   They are very Naturally talented  But did not take it serious as a kid .  It is  a Fact .     Not knocking  Malcolm at all   Hey i even have ridden with him and Blake    When Ryan was training at JS7 place .   Big James and even James himself will tell you Malcolm is more naturally talented than James .

It's interesting to look at older videos to see how Tate has progressed with criticism as well. In the beginning, it was pretty obvious he took it personally, but now, like you said, you can almost see the kid soak up the info.

Exactly! Look at Tate in 2022 and look at Tate in 2023. It’s night and day. IF he wants to ride SX, Chad will teach him everything.

Screw the age Tate has gotten serious. Having Chad Reed as a dad negates a lot of that. Tate is only 13. Having Chad as a dad and 4 years of riding and coaching every day is priceless compared to the mini heroes that start when they are 4-5 years old.

Just imagine someone like Chad Reed being in the corner of Tom Vialle... He could explain the differences between US and EU outdoor set-ups, he could help with SX Set-up and would be a brilliant riding coach. You could also ask yourself the question why do professional riders don't hire former riders such as Chad Reed, Jeff Emig, Ryan Villopoto, Ryan Dungey, Kevin Windham, Heath Voss, ... and in Tom Vialle' case maybe Marvin Musquin, Eric Sorby, David Vuillemin, Seb Tortelli, Stephan Roncada, Christophe Pourcel, Serge Guidetti... to help them.

Chad learns his son to ride whoops like most European pro's can't, and the kid is doing it on a 85cc!

You realise most of the guys you mentioned are helping pro riders right now? Including Tom Vialle who is working with Marvin.

Tate's going to do well, and it isn't all because of who's coaching him.  He's got his Dad's fire, and is getting to the point where he's one with the bike and can put it where he wants it.

It's really fun to watch the progression.

I really enjoy the channel.

Anyone whose followed can tell you this is what Chad has been wishing on for a long long time. He's been so excited since as he says "Tate put his hand up and said he wants to do it". Probably as motivated compared to any point in his own career!

I think the fact that he started out riding bmx and downhill mtb means the base hes starting from is much more advanced than other people who start out racing later and are at square one. Bmx racing teaches you how to be extremely accurate with your takeoffs and landings, conserve momentum, soak up jumps, land extremely softly, pump, coast through into the corner apex, time jumps…etc all things that are extremely valuable for motocross racing.

As someone else mentioned I dont think Chad is worried about his speed right now, hes making sure he gets the fundamentals down pat first and then the speed will build exponentially on top of that. If he was just worried about being fast fast fast right now sure he could be, but without the technique hed only have so far he could go. The way hes building slow the ceiling is much higher and especially combined with the fact he can focus on riding all day every day.
