Got this for Christmas. Was real suprised. My girl didn't know I just bought a top of the line Arai last year but to be honest this helmet feels real good. It's lightweight, seems to fit snug. I am anxious to ride with it and see how the airflow is because I sweat like hell in my Arai.

Is this a good helmet compared to Arai? She spent about $425 on it so it wasn't cheap.

Fox helmets are good, gut there not on the level with Arai and Shoei. I have had an Arai the last 2 years and I won't own anything different. Hands down the most comfy and best fitting helmet on the market.

If I had a GF that spent $425 on a helmet for me, i'd keep the helmet and her.

Protection wise not as good as an arai. It will be comfy and light but not as safe.

I hear that all the time but in my opinion it depends on who's head the helmet is on.

I have an Arai, Shark and V3 and I personally think the V3 and Shark feel better on my head than the Arai.

Got any proof that the fox helmet is not as safe as a Arai??? I would like to hear it if you do.

it is about head shape.. most people can fit comfortably in a an HJC, but Shoei's require a special shape.. I cant for the life of me wear a BELL, just finally fit good in a TLD, and can no longer wear a Fox.. And KBC makes FOX helmets, Im pretty sure Arai has a thing or tow on them

Me too. They both meet the standards, right?

Thanks for the input. Guess I'll ride with it and see. I am not that comfortable in the Arai. Sweat bad, chin strap kinda chokes me but I know it's a good helmet. My girl is pretty cool for getting me that. We'll see. I hate to return it. Guess I can have a couple helmets. I am worried about safety compared to Arai. I searched online but couldn't really find anything. Well at least the helmet will go nice with a new kawi if I get rid of the Honda. Smile

Standards . . . there's a different rabbit hole we could climb down. As long as they have to pass current "standards," the helmets are not designed to optimally protect dirt bike riders for the risks they are most likely up against.

How well a helmet is made is a different issue whatever standard it is built to.

Fit is another separate issue important to protection. Our melons are shaped differently. Find a well-built helmet that fits you well.

Which is about head shape.

I used to be unable to wear Shoeis for a while because my head didn't fit into them right. Does that mean my "personal preference" is not to like Shoei? No. It just meant that they didn't fit, and my personal preference was to not have a headache.

Arais always fit me well. The new Shoei does, too.

If an Arai fits you good, but you really like a Shoei and it is too long oval, order a Shoei for the Japan market. They are rounder.
