It called a "disaster" for a reason. Despite the most well intentioned plans...people and property get screwed when mother nature plays her hand.
Not one swingin' dick at Vital has any experience with a "disaster". Arm chair quarterbacking is for those with NO skin in the game.
All you "Mr. Perfects" need to check yourselves. I can be a very harsh judge...that doesn't make me right.
No experience with disaster ??
You are a complete...
Nevermind, you're not worth the effort.
My apologies...if you are experienced. Lots of folks aren't. Again...sorry.
What are you talking about? Are you defending their response to this "disaster"? It's absolutely pathetic, and if you can't see the problem then that makes you absolutely pathetic too.
We can build tent cities in the middle of Iraq in 130 degree heat and have air conditioning and a gourmet food line setup the next for 100's of soldiers in 24hrs. Yet, we can't even take care our own people on Maui after a huge tragedy that's left them homeless and devastated. They lost their loved ones, friends, and their whole damn community.
The people over there have been helping themselves by putting in grueling work like loading boats, carrying heavy loads, transporting vital supplies, etc. This is pathetic they have to do this when our government is sitting back and pissing our tax dollars away on all the other stupid shit that's ruining our country. If you aren't ashamed of this response to this disaster then you are a cruel person for applauding the worst case scenario conditions for the survivors.

There are 2 parts to a disaster response. While it is happening, and after it has happened. I am thinking Mr. Plowboy was alluding to the fact that in this case responders could not have changed any outcomes, while the fires were raging. No amount of water shot from hoses or dropped from planes would have stopped hurricane driven wildfires. Anybody who has experienced anything approaching a wildfire should have that realization. Response after the fires have done their thing is another story.
Two types of disasters in play here simultaneously.
Natural, and man made.
I've dealt with both.
It's maddening when you're dealing with the latter.
Because that could have been 100% avoided.
Same goes for the victims of this disaster in Hawaii.
I honestly can't believe how little media coverage has been on this. 1000 people "missing" on a 5 square mile Island. No mention of the 2400 kids that were registered for school on the island that aren't registered anywhere now. Is it simply coincidence that the las Vegas police chief that was in charge of the deadliest mass shooting investigation is now the chief of the deadliest "natural disaster"? Something is fishy, period.

As you can see our government is not helping these poor US citizens who've just had their lives turned upside down. Meanwhile, they're happily taking care of the illegals flooding across the border with our tax dollars:

Wow, tell us what you really think. I happened to have been a fire fighter and the biggest fire I worked ironically was saving my own house. Unfortunately we lost many other homes in the neighborhood. It just so happens my was the first the fire came to after it jumped the freeway and got out of hand real quick. But, non the less, I've lived it, not as bad as Lahaina, but enough to know how bad they have it.
If you have friends and family who've last everything or even partially every thing. Enough to be entitled to FEMA funds. Also if you are considering donating through gofundme or similar. If they get donations to "help rebuild" or "help cleanup" and other wordings, FEMA will deduct those donations from what they would have gotten from FEMA. Please let them know.

Somehow, they snatched up these kids and they are begging trafficked
there are tunnels underneath the city
Not a cool thread for jokes. Some here have close ties there.

The sad part is I don't think he thinks he's joking.
Maui is 50 miles long and 25 miles wide.
I'm not disagreeing with the rest of your post.
Still a large number unaccounted for (1 is way too many if it is a loved one), but this is a good example of how difficult it can be to account for people after a tragedy like this. Still nearly 400 that are not accounted for, praying that most of those just haven’t reported in to the proper people yet
I just got off the phone with some people that have had to move 3 times already since their home burned to the ground and are presently being evacuated out of Kaanapali. 😞

Your commander-in-chief "is on the case" he can relate to the Maui victims that have died, lost their homes and are homeless.
He had a kitchen fire and almost lost his car and cat.... 🙄
Dude is freaking clueless he's gotta be on some kinda drugs.
That video is very telling.
Goes back to what I said early on in this thread.
And this...

His ineptitude knows no bounds.
After reading the last couple pages im getting a " alix jones sandy hook" vibe.
Well perhaps you could share your opinion with those who have been harrassed before the fires, the ones who survived the fires, and the one's who are now dealing with the results of the fires.
They are confirming, in these articles posted, the initial thoughts we had when this first happened.
I'm willing to concede that the sudden "security", and cordoned off areas, are to prevent looting, etc...
But restrictions on helicopter, and drone flyovers ???
How long before those barriers become permanent construction barriers, as new luxury residences are being built ??
Time will tell.
You can bet your ass that none of the burned out locals will be living there when the ashes have been hauled away, and the dust settles.
The only thing that I have seen about restrictions on helicopters and drones were during the actual firefighting times. That is very common. We deal with it every time we have a fire that is being fought with aerial assets here. We have even had to have firefighting planes stop fighting fires because of idiots with drones flying too close to them.
Doesn't sound like anything new to me, it sounds like a routine issue when you are used to fires every year.
I'm not so sure that this is a planned event but more of a consequence of bad policy over many years and really bad decisions by people currently. It may well be that big money buys a lot of the land as the families will not be able to afford to rebuild. Many of the "Ohanas" were unpermitted but housed multiple generations. The insurance companies will not pay to rebuild the unpermitted Ohanas. So now what? Take big money for your land so you can move to another island and have a legit house? Or struggle and not be able to rebuild. There's a lot of people there that are totally fu®Ked going forward that don't even know how bad it is yet.

One of you coincidence theorists want to explain this:
Direct energy weapon? What a pile of bullshit. Wingnuts using a disaster that has claimed hundreds of lives to try to further their tinfoil idiocy.
Maybe you could ask a local friendly volunteer firefighter about that. Or stop into a station and ask around. Car fires can melt aluminum.
I stand by my post. This is getting ridiculous.
