Pretty much the same thing happened here in Tennessee last weekend.

First time in a coon's age motos were being shown on NBC.

The same time a simple line of thunderstorms were moving through.

The majority of the 450 moto was preempted by the weather scarecast team of the local network.

They same radar loop, the same fearmongering speech over and over for almost 20min.

Talked with a friend in San Diego an hour ago. He said they are enjoying a little rain shower and the kids are swimming in the pool.

Up here in Thousand Oaks area we're getting dumped on. Started about 9am but not bad had all the windows open. Started pouring about 2:00, still coming down hard. Just went out, streets are flooded pretty good. No wind.  Basically it's raining outside so far.

What part of T.O.? It was a disaster at my house, our pear tree dropped at least 10 pears because of the wind. Laughing

It did rain like a mofo though for over 12 hours straight, that was no joke... Going to walk up to Paradise Falls today and check shit out.

This was the extent of it in Orange County.  Not much rain at all, and minor winds.  We had many storms this last winter that were much worse than this one.

It will all just flow into the ocean in a couple hours, and they will be in a state of emergency because they don't have enough water in a month or two.

The big question

How long before one has to watch where they step to avoid human feces?

That picture is so deceiving.  It's a wet parking lot at Dodger Stadium.

Yup.  the constant storms we had in Feb/Mar? were way worse as far as flooding.

This shit is so overhyped...and the media still pushing "California destroyed" headlines.

Unbelievable.

Mt Charleston outside Vegas is currently under an evacuation for flooding.

Pull up 3d Google Earth and get back to me after you review the parking lot elevations.  Dodger Stadium is on a hill.   I've been there, have you?     Of course there will be some pooling at the lower levels of the parking lot.   You can use the elevation pointer to see the differences in terrain @ various points of the parking lot.

The picture is bullshit.      Every parking lot in So Cal looked like that yesterday.

This is akin to the clown "reporters" kneeling in water on the news to make people think there's a flood.

Here...snapshot from Google Earth.

Screenshot 20230820-204759 Samsung InternetI remember asking my parents at a young age why hurricanes happen in Florida, but not California. And they told me that the cold water was the reason. I just wonder if local California meteorologists were saying that the hurricane was going to come and cause lots of damage, knowing that hurricanes lose strength over cold water.

Newbury Park actually. Yeah we got a lot of rain. Nothing to get excited about.

Paradise falls, LA Branca, Hill Canyon. Those were my stomping grounds back in the day. Moved to Lynn Ranch in 71'. I would go down there and get lost at 9 years old trying to find my way around. Found the water hole one day and a bunch of naked hippie chick's. The water was still pretty clean back then. Had all kinds of places to ride back then too before all the houses and industrial came in. Good times.

Before this rain, you had to watch yourself when walking anywhere on sidewalks in LA.  Now after the rain, it's all swept out in the ocean.  I will be staying out of the water for awhile.

So what are we outraged about?

The news reporting a hurricane?

Climate change?

The name of the Hurricane being Hillary?

That the hurricane didn't fuck up a bunch of stuff?

People buying shit at stores to be prepared?

CBA82585-26A3-4BEE-827D-DA4F28606054A4902AED-8E7A-4B35-8DAD-B4FF4CC68972We got home Sunday afternoon and turned on the TV, endless speeches telling us to be afraid and how dangerous it is outside, followed the same clips over and over and over, then the earthquake lady came on, “We’re not predicting anything but the Slymar ? Quake was a 6.0, then 24 hours later the 7.2 hit”.   Holy shit….. then “just in ! Tornado in Pine Valley “!  Anxiety’s ramping up big time what’s next OMG !
Then we turned the news off, put on a movie and an hour later felt completely relaxed and enjoying the summer storm.
Pretty run of the mill storm here in south Orange County.  Our work load quadrupled getting everyone ready for Labor weekend coming up soon. I know some places got hit pretty hard, just another shitstorm here lol. A9D8F829-755C-4519-9D94-EADCF998D2AD.png?VersionId=Nu1iarNMG.Wwk

It was rainy and drizzly here most of the day Monday. Then the sun came out in the afternoon so I went for a surf check/bike ride down the coast. Super fun looking glassy longboard waves with only a handful of guys willing to risk getting hepatitis or who knows what else lol. No I didn't go in it looked fun though !  Middles and church

You fuckers act like you wish the storm had killed hundreds and destroyed billions in property instead of being a bust.

I'd rather they always err on the side of caution.  I want my margins wide...I'm 65...which seems ancient to you babies but the wife and I slogged our guts out to get to retirement.

This is our time to see it...be out in it.  I don't want someone afraid to give me worst case scenario.  I know how to handle "worst case".  Did I mention that I've lived to 65?
