Justin used the new Yamaha steering assist in moto 1, which obviously was a mistake.
They must have tested this device over the last 2 weeks and felt very confident using it.
So how could they get it wrong, why in the hell would they try something new when the points were so close.
Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't.
Your thoughts?
I doubt that it was that horrible as they make it sound.. There is nothing new that when he not get a holeshot he struggle to make his way forward.
The second moto he got what he needed and took off in a combination of Hunter being smart. Had hunter been more greedy for points i firmly belive that he would have catched Cooper and passed him and towing Shimoda with him.
i have ridden with tight steering dampers and know how they can feel, but it think this is a 50/50 case..
A bit off subject , but does anyone else get the vibe that Mr.Cooper is annoyed to have to answer questions from media members ? This (IMO) has been an ongoing vibe for quite a while.
He had a decent start first moto
His interviews at the track are horrible, yet when he's on pulp he's a really good listen.

Decent but not first.
J Coop and Prado is in the same boat. Give them a holeshot and they often win, give them a top five start and they rarley win.
The subject is Justin Cooper, so you can say whatever you want as long as it's about Justin Cooper.
And I agree. He always seems like he just watched paint dry in his post moto interviews. He's got a pretty bland personality in that setting. I actually appreciate that. Dude laid pipe in the second moto.
It hit me the other day while I was scrolling youtube how many media outlets there are now. The riders have to tell the same damn story 10 times a day. I'm surprised how accommodating they are.
He’s pretty much the only one with a chance now to beat Hunter, so they better have everything dialed. He goes 1-1 and Hunter does something like 7-2 or 4-3, the finale will be super close.
He just looks....... sad/unhappy....he's usually a little more happier...
Has he ever been happy? Maybe when he won the SX championship in 21 or the MXDN. That's all I can remember.
I think so.. like maybe when he had his tips done up in blonde...
I saw Justin get a fourth overall in a MXDN moto last year on 250. He’ll always have my respect as a rider.
I’ve never met him but something tells me he’s probably a cool dude.
I think he's kinda just a bland, basic dude... at least outwardly to the media. Some people choose not to put too much effort into keeping up an interesting public image. Not that I know the first thing about him, but he could be a natural introvert and doing a bunch of talking in front of cameras drains his battery, I would probably be the same way.
Cooper crushed it on a 450 in Supercross and earned me some killer fantasy points. I feel like he's a better big bike rider. Time will tell.
I was at the race and it was obvious moto 1 he didn't feel safe or comfortable. Have never seen a top guy like this look back so many times and throw out the anchor. Weird. Def mistake on Star's part. Second moto he was on rails w/out it
He strikes me as a guy that has more to offer then just racing dirt bikes for a living.
Cooler than this guy...
He's prob neurodivergent/light autism. don't hate on the guy, just how he's wired.
