With all due respect to Jeffrey, absolutely he could’ve but it would’ve taken more than a few months of SX test tracks and definitely not at this point of his career. It was an interesting interview no doubt, thanks for putting it out. Not trying to be a dick, just felt it got a little much at times.

Searle did it with no supercross experience. Townley too. I feel like Herlings can do it, if they can… I was talking 250SX, so I guess...

I was talking 250SX, so I guess I should have clarified that.

Searle did it but was he ever a championship guy or race winner? No.

Townley had one healthy year in sx and barley got the sx title. 2006 blew out his knee trying to ride sx then 2007 got the job done. Then never raced another sx.

To clarify, I mentioned Searle as he came out and went 7-8 in his two 250SX races.

That is in the realm of top five, therefore relevant to the "top five guy" discussion...

Haven't listened to it yet , but Lewis , I bet this is one for the ages. I wasn't much of a fan of his , until about 5 - 6 years ago. I found it refreshing listening to him , as he says it the way it is. He's also become Very humble in his later years. I'll definitely be giving this a listen. Thanks Lewis!

Yeah and, as you could tell by the interview, that is way in his head.

You think that he'd never figure that out though? To each their own.

I hope you enjoy it! It's definitely a different look at him. It's definitely the 'real' Jeffrey Herlings!

Hey Lewis,

are you broing down with Jeff at Gaildorf this weekend? Of all the places, this is the least I would have expected him to race at.

No Gaildorf, but I am sticking around. I was meant to get back to the USA for Unadilla. The riders have responded though.

I had quite a few phone calls from riders saying: "We want to do one of those podcasts. I'll be as honest as Jeffrey was..."

I'm sticking around for Sweden and Arnhem to record two episodes, then an American is also in for the end of the month.

I want this 'series' to mean something. Every podcast under this umbrella needs to be worthy!

When and by whom was this "honest" stuff started? I get people wanting to open up, but emphasizing honesty tells me they haven't been before.

Maybe it's just me being my usual self and taking things by the word and not getting irony. You may tell I'm also great at parties.

Vialle had next to zero experience in SX and he did pretty great this year. No reason to think Jeffrey couldn't do the same.

Brilliant Pod Lewis!!

just so much in it. I find the whole training side very interesting. From how long he spent training each day to the type of training he done & even that he organises everything himself. He must have been one of the fittest athletes in the world at his prime.

Thanks & lookin forward to the next ones.

DV commented on Pulp that everyone online was shitting on Herlings for the crashes in the whoops but he saw him and his lap times were similar to Marvin.

Had Herlings applied himself and gone full time earlier in his career, he would have adapted to SX and challenged. He is one of the most talented riders to swing a leg over a dirtbike, ever!

I'm pretty sure what it means , is that for decades , riders have been tight lipped on a lot of stuff behind the scenes. This is especially true in our sport!  It's not saying or calling any rider a " Liar "......it's that they weren't saying much of anything in certain subjects.

Well, honestly, I'd give a lot of that credit to Seewer. Seewer has always been honest in a smart and articulate way.

Herlings is an all-timer and is the MX GP's Stew - changed the game, broke records, and hurt to often.

Question: Could he race 250 Supercross (per the current rules)?

If he races a national, I am going!  I saw AC222 at Hangtown last year and the fans (especially my dad) absolutely loved it!

Herlings has an eye on two more years of MXGP, then potentially finishing his career with an outdoor-only deal in 2026.

It's discussed in the podcast!

Looks pretty damn good here.  He's on the 1989 Miami Supercross track (I wish they still mixed it up).

I really wouldn't want to see him that late in his career. Jett will be going into his 4th season, Chase will also be in his prime and he will most likely have to deal with a rookie season of Deegan if he doesn't beat Hunter who will also be a handful. Wouldn't want to see him roll around in 5th. The only guy with a perfect record in moto is Father Time.

To me this validates him saying he doesn't care about perceptions. 22 year old Jett will be an absolute monster to deal with.

I'm admittedly not a fan of Herlings (mostly as I just don't like him) I'm really looking forward to this. What I heard of the Cooper Webb part I already don't hate him as much as I did previously.

I'm really keen to hear your feedback now, because he is a completely different guy in this. So chilled and normal!

You asked for my opinion, so here it is...............

I hate to say it but I borderline like the guy now. Most of my dislike was based on exactly what he says, small soundbites, podium talk or interviews that were much more surface level. He still seems a bit arrogant, but his arrogance is truly deserved. If you are even in the discussion of the fastest man alive you have every right to be a little cocky. Previously I thought he seemed like a dick as well as being cocky. The interview was relaxed and natural and you seemed to bring out his true nature which is much more likable. Maybe by dislike was semi-based on nationalistic pride.

Congrats, it was one of the best interviews I've heard in a long time. I think Jase is a very good interviewer, but he did not get Herlings to open up nearly as much as you did. You know it's a good interview when you get out of the truck and put your earbuds in to listen while you are going about your business at home.

I’m first generation american from dutch parents… the cockiness is just how most dutchman sound when they speak english. It’s a mixture of the Cadence of their english which is how dutch is spoken in short staccato bursts and their use of expletives. the expletives are just sprinkled throughout their sentences and not used in the same way as we use them in the US, but it’s very abrasive to our ears! 😂

With all that said overall i liked the pod cast but i couldn’t help but think it sounded like Austin Powers interviewing Goldmember … that’s one of my favorite movies so i swear that’s a compliment and was making me laugh!

Quit talking about it and come on over.  I really don’t like “could’ve” discussions when someone didn’t try.  That goes for Premier wins, supercross, or Outdoor nationals.  I lived in 5 countries in Europe and speak French …..but for every 1 successful came over and won a championship I can give you 10 that didn’t.  The VAST majority of riders come over moving up career wise and most from here go over to GPS because they have stalled out career wise here.  Make what you want of it but that is true more often than not.  JH didn’t get the most premier wins and he didn’t come over for supercross…or a full season of outdoors here.  I think he probably would have done well…in outdoors but I don’t know how many championships he may, or may not, have won.  Put up or shut up is a true statement.

Maybe you should you partake in something you'd find more enjoyable, may I suggest licking the nearest available window?
