Golf superstar Tiger Woods has said he is taking an "indefinite break" from the sport as he admitted for the first time being unfaithful to his wife and asked for forgiveness.

"I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children. I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness," he said in a statement posted on his website.

"After much soul searching, I have decided to take an indefinite break from professional golf. I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father and person,'' he added, asking for privacy "during this difficult period."

Maybe he should of said "He is taking an idefinite break from banging other girls?" Golf doesn't seem to be his problem... At least when he was on the golf course she knew where he was.....

I've always been a Tiger Woods fan but he isn't sorry for shit other than being caught and having to deal with blatant public scrutiny.

I wonder how long he can stay out of the game and maintain the number 1 ranking, not that that will be on his mind right now i am sure.

Who will be the next sponsor to bail too? Gatorade has dropped his drink and i saw on the news this morning Tag Hauer has said adios.

Gatorade dropped his drink, but he is still a collecting a check from them... Tag Hauer is said to have just had the places that had his mug up, take it down.. The U.S. media is saying they haven't dropped him, just scaling back promotions of him...

Just goes to show that moral fiber and integrity aren't a top priority in big business. They know that this will all blow over and they will once again pimp him instead of doing the respectable thing and not supporting him.

If Kobe can come back from a rape case, I'm sure this will all blow over for Tiger..

Damn, and people think J-Law is holding mx back... lol

Can you imagine the ratings for Tigers first golf tourney???

We all know if Nike drops him, every other shoe company will be after him... Better just ride it...

Heard today that the Mrs. said "golf or me" as an ultimatum.

My advice to El'Tigre, pay her off (100mil is the rumor we've all heard), get the divorce and substantial custody of the kids (they have to remain the the states) and move on with life.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I'm not surprised. No one is as flawless as they seem, and it's USUALLY the people with the good, yet at the same time unknown reputations that are the biggest pervs. He seemed like a pretty good "golden boy," like many have referred to him as, but no one really knew much about his personal life.

If "Coming back" means making money again at golf then I have no respect for him.
Coming back should mean being a father to his kids and a husband to his wife. If that's even possible now. Probably not.

I think men should have to pass a character test to use their sperm.
No big deal. Just another blown up family. This country is loaded with them.

I bet the moment the details of his cheating broke on the news EVERY player on Tour was like, "shit, about time he got busted". Guarantee they knew what was up. They are probably so pumped that Tiger is no longer considered the golden boy of golf. Who's gonna step up to be the new flag carrier? Good chance for Mickelson but wait, Daly just lost all that weight!

I can't see that being true. If that many tour players knew, word of mouth would get around.

Two years from now this will have blown over, he will be kicking azz on the course, and making more money than he is now.

Don't hate the player; hate the game.

he was picking up women in bars...he's one of the most recognizable people in world...yeah, I'm pretty sure this was a poorly kept secret. I'd bet that he and Elin had been fighting over his cheating most of the past 3 years. He'd get busted, she'd throw a fit, then they would make up.

Just this time, something happened that was news "worthy."

Why would you bang hags that are not half as hot as your wife?

Tiger went to Stanford, you would think he would have been smarter.

Don't equate a college degree with being smart. BTW, he doesn't have a degree.

They knew about it but who wants to be the one to break "man code". Now that it's out several have made the comments about him being a fake, phony, etc. He appears to be the poster boy of the after effects of "Little League Dad" syndrome. Karma is a real bitch.

He doesn't need to quit playing golf, he needs to be on a saltpeter schedule.

Theres plenty of guys on here that equate a college degree with being smart. Many others that argue how going to a 'higher' ranking college makes the student 'smarter' than the 'regular' colleges.

Only 2 years right?

You would just think he would have made better decisions, especially with all of his advisors around him.
