Hey guys,
Been off the bike for 4 years. Making a comeback and am ready to pick up a new bike.
Need a suggestion on the best bike in your opinion for someone tall?
I'm coming off of a 2014 CRF450 and 2017 KTM 450 FE.
Loved both bikes. I think I fit better on the honda gripping the shrouds. But not sure what the new bikes are like.
Thanks!
Kawy 450 sr
KTM. Because they have tall seats available from KTM..
X2 on the Kawi 450 SR
Im 6ft 4 and ride a 21 KTM SX250 with stock height bars, seat and pegs. Feels great. Ive done high bars and seats etc in the past, but it just ruins the cornering abilities. KXF450 and KTM 450 also feel very comfy
The Shop
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
RM Army Edition? Lol
Looks pretty big and comfy
Another vote for KX450SR…Kawi platform fits taller riders well and is one solid bike!
Kawi SR
I'm 6'6 and switched to a Kawi SR this year from a '18 KTM. The Kawi is the best fitting bike (for my height) I've ever had.
Is there a difference in frame geometry in the Kawi 450 SR and standard KX450F?
Kawi, SR is just best value for the dollar but a Kawi in general fits great and really good rebates on 23’s right now. I’m 6’2 and very long legs and it’s the only thing I’ve ever felt comfortable on
How do you like the bike overall? Compared to others you have owned, ridden etc?
Kawi has been best for tall guys in as long as I can remember. 6’4” here.
No.
Green machine for over 6 foot crowd.
I am 6 2 and got a kawi 450 -23 and two ktms 350 and 450 excfs -23s. But I also had the 350 -23 mx bike and the new chassie ktms got a little bit narrower rider triangle than the previous models. And the frame is stiff and the engine weight is much more forward in the new frame so u get a little harscher feeling from the fork. I tried 3 sets of conevalves and the stock fork and revalved the cones and tried to get comfy but wasnt able too so I sold that bike. So I dont like the new ktm with stiffer frame.
I love the kawi 450. Bought some lower raptor ti pegs and a higher seat and xtrig triple clamps and a pipe and it feels amazing. Best 450 engine I´ve rode in my 25 years of racing.. So much torque, pulls for days.
Had a yzf450 -22 and a 450sxf -23 last summer but I prefer the kawi alot. Have not had a honda since 2001 so cant comment on that one :D
What pipe? Any remap. Or fuel changes?
HGS, nope, got the black stock map in there now.
It's the best bike I've had from a riding stand point. Power and power delivery are awesome, suspension feels great (its the KYB stuff). Chassis feels very stable and predictable. I'm riding better than I ever have and my riding buddies have noticed a complete change in my riding style.
Some folks have complained about things wearing out quickly on the KX but I've had no issues. The only thing I've had to swap so far are chain, sprockets, and tires. The build quality doesn't seem quite as refined as the KTM but its held together just fine, so no complaints there.
Coming from the KTM with its "no-tools required" air filter swap, swapping the air filter on the KX was annoying, but I got used to that pretty quickly and I can do it in a couple of minutes with my impact driver.
I really hope the all new '24 is as good. Seems like they've addressed some of the annoyances that previous owners have expressed, we just have to wait and see how the chassis rides and if they've done anything to the rider triangle.

Good info. Thanks
