Watch for #57 in the +45 class a LLs next week. Brook Fluker will be on board the 1993 KX500, just like the one he raced in 1993 in the Open B class at age 16. Notched a 2nd that year. I'm thinking he might get a good start with a new Pirelli scoop tire!
I’m liking that ‘89 KX250 tank 👍
Thought this was another Deegan thread.
I raced Open B that year as well. This is the start of the 2nd Moto. #29 on a KTM300. 12th this Moto, 18th overall
That was my original thought, then I realized he isn't racing.

How good!!
Dude that's awesome. My first year at Lorettas was with my little brother in 1993, he was 15. Like dumb asses we signed him up in the 125 C class and the Open B/C class on a KX 500 as well. No parents, no money, just me and him having the time of our life. He had some top 10s in that class against some old ass dudes 😆
Good luck I will look out for you and if I'm announcing that moto I will hype the shit outta you if you holeshot!
Kevin, (the way better announcer than Weege).
Winners Take Y'all is badass Kevin, thank you from the over in UK 👍
Mike, always good to see a 500 out there, will keep an eye (and ear) out for it on the YouTube coverage, good luck to the guy 🤘
That's awesome Mike. Hope you and Brook have a great week.
Kevin, I looked back on the LL Vault and see that your brother finished 9th in that 2nd Moto that I posted the pic from. That was my best Moto ever at the ranch over 3 years racing there. Finished 12th. Ran 4th for half the race then dropped back in the last half to 9th. With 2 laps to go I thought I was finally going to get a top 10 finish in a moto, but was passed by 3 guys in the last lap and a half who were riding like it was there first lap! Obviously your brother was one of them. Look forward to listening all week, you and Weege do a great job!
Yeah he was timid and rightfully so on the start. I've got some video I need to digitize and upload from that week. Such a memorable time and I still absolutely love going there every year to carry the load for Weege 😀
Rich we love doing the show. It's different and it's as fun for us as it is for you no doubt. Look forward to hearing that 500 ripping around.
Cool ,I was #48in this pic. I remember I was pitted near Brook, and remember talking to him. What number was Brook?
Awesome! It was a fun week for sure. What place did you end up?
Would love to see some video of that week if you ever did digitize and upload it. You should mention this thread and impromptu “class reunion” when your calling Brook’s moto’s next week!
8th with a 2, 17, 4 moto score.
Man that 2nd moto, bummer!
Brook was #15 in 1993. He rode back to back motos, Schoolboy Mod was first then Open B/C. He got knocked down in moto 1 and came back to 3rd. Before moto 2, our 500 was stolen and he was given permission from the AMA to ride a different bike. A friend from Texas just happened to have his bike in his van. The serial number was one digit off from ours. He went on to card 2nd place in motos 2 and 3. We got that bike back about six weeks later, thanks to the Humphreys County Sheriff. He was also invited to compete in the International Class that year. One of only a few riders who have raced three classes at Loretta's. Brook turned Pro the next year and rode 125 SX and 250 MX and AX for the next six years. He took a break and went to college getting his BS, Masters and then his PhD from Alabama. He is currently a Biology Professor at Arkansas State University.
Dude I remember as we were pulling in the track for our moto (same moto as you, the Open B/C) and hearing that a 500 had been stolen and thought for sure it was ours that we had left at the track the night before in Shae Bentleys pits. Glad you guys got it back!
Pit Row
Wow, I was in that class in 1993 also. I was number 36 in the pic. Got the holeshot, one of the greatest moments of my life. I got chill bumps when I saw that pic. Awesome time.
So cool to see others commenting that they are in this pic. I bought it at the Action Photos booth the next year. My dad was taking pictures from the mechanic’s area but was on the line with me and didn’t get any pics of the start. Best start I ever got in the different times I raced there.
Meant to ask in the previous post, what place did you end up?
Hey Dave31, I had 4-3-3 moto scores for 3rd overall. That was my only time at Loretta's. That is one rough track. My wife and I sure had a good time that week. Great memories.
This thread is so cool to see all these guys showing up and realizing they were all in the same class/moto and the pic to go with it.
Agreed. It’s nice for the young bucks like myself to see it especially. I think my generation (born in the late 90’s) have a problem when it comes to paying our respects to the ones before us locally. It’s cool to know about CR, JS, RC and RV and all but what about the guys who ripped in their hay day but never went on to be professional? To the guys in this thread who are pictured; coming from a younger guy who took several trips to the ranch to race, thank you! Showing up your first year and going single digit finishes all three motos, pulling holeshots and whatnot is amazing. You guys probably didn’t sign any autographs or take photos with fans but the historians of amateur MX know you guys were no slouches. Thank you
I find this pretty cool to read as well. Like a class reunion of sorts even though some of you might not really know each other, you're connected by the best of the best in amateur racing at Loretta's in '93. Maybe some of the other riders in that pic will chime in on this thread.
Cool thread!
Any of you guys ride the Open B/C the year before in 92? My good buddy got 4th that year..
Good luck Brook!
I'd be nervous about that bad boy getting claimed.
The big 500 getting some well deserved attention in the 40+ coverage 🙂
