Sure seems like a long time since the off-road world has won anything in court but it appears its finally happened

It looks like off-highway vehicles (OHV) are here to stay for folks who enjoy riding around the Oceano Dunes.

According to Jim Suty, Friends of Oceano Dunes President, the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court says OHV will not be banned from the area.

Furthermore, the California Coastal Commission must pull its decision to close the Vehicular Recreation Area.

“Friends argued that the local coastal plan only authorizes the County, not the Coastal Commission, to close the park, and even then, the closure may only be temporary,” said Suty. “The Court agreed with that analysis and agreed that the Commission’s effort to ban OHV unlawfully attempted to amend the County’s plan in violation of the Coastal Act."

Not only are OHVs not banned, but Suty also mentioned that Pier Avenue beach access won’t be closed any longer.

Never been, but this is huge.  It's about time ohv in California won something.  I'm sure it's not over though... The onslaught against it will never end.

Since Newsom hates when courts tell him he doesn't have the authority to do something, how long are we thinking it'll take before he has the coastal commission file a tantrum appeal?

Once Newsom finally gets the authorization to lock us all in our homes and farm us for body heat to run the Great Taxation Supercomputer/Rail Line for Elite Campaign Donors and Undocumented Workers, it won't matter that OHVs are legal at Pismo. But until then, a great victory for justice!

Follow Friends of Oceano on Instagram. They provide constant updates. They have multiple lawsuits ongoing including trying to get more of the dunes reopened to the public.

Best thing that happened was when the ppm air contaminates readings were higher during 2020 lockdowns. Proving vehicle usage wasn't the issue...lol

Pismo dunes are a cesspool just like Glamis. Vast majority of the people "recreating" are drunk morons riding and driving vehicles they have no business operating.

While I don't disagree the 5 cities area would take a huge hit if it closed for ohv. I go since its the only place south of Eureka you can drive on the beach and its the easiest place to ride standup jetskis..rented quads once with my dad in the 90's, ran over my leg a few times..

840 miles of coastline in California. And you can only legally ride your ohv at Pismo and a tiny piece of jetty in Eureka!  There will never be more, it will always be a fight to keep those two open.

Oh okaaaayyy....      So what's you're solution ? Close down all off road areas because the "Vast majority are drunk morons driving vehicles they have no business operating" ?  Sounds more like my drive home on the freeway. Better shut down the whole state if we're going to be idiot proof.
