I think we need to stop comparing him to MC RC JS RV etc…..he rides nothing like them, and start comparing him to MXGP riders like Bayle and Everts with alittle bit of Herlings and Cairoli. You can see the European influence in the way he rides. I know this has been mentioned before, but he was trained by the Everts early on, right before he came to the states. To me, he’s a modern day Everts with more evolved equipment.

That makes no sense. Jett could retire today and have a 100% win record on the 450. That's the stat. You're saying you could compare that? C'mon man.

If he retired today, that would be his resume, not any. If if or what could have been.  Thats all you can go by.

I believe he's one of those freakish talents that would have excelled on any bike in any era.

He got on a dirt bike and like the Borg on Star Trek...he melded with the machine.  They are one.  Disagree if you must but I've got eyes.

Edit...I don't think he's riding to his limit...he's riding to the bikes limits...like Roger, Everts, Bubba, and guys like that.

Loaded poll. Kinda like the left or the right. Neither for me. I just want to see some great racing.

Poll should have had a 3rd option that said this. It would have been the winning option. You like winning?

Jett’s rookie year stats are stacking up very nicely against Ricky’s and James’ rookie year stats.

If jett doesn't win this weekend.

We can say jett was racing for the championship. Right??

Just like mxon chase and Eli didn't have to push to win the overall.

Same same.

True rookie JS 10 wins RC 9 wins JL 1 win, yeah nice 😏

4th year pro, are you really a rookie anymore even if it is the 450 class?

1st year in f1 are you a rookie? Yes..

But you are also pro racer in f3 and f2 before your rookie year in f1.

It's like ppl want to change the narrative coz your God like hero growing ups stats at the same point in their career are being bettered.

I don't think anyone is talking about first professional year (except you).  And yes, when a rider steps up to the 450 class they are a rookie in that class.

For the sake of argument though, let's compare rookie 450 season for all three, which also happens to be their 4th professional year for all three:

RC - 15 moto wins, 11 O/A podiums, 9 O/A wins

JS - 0 moto wins, 0 podiums, 0 O/A wins

JL - 14 moto wins, 7 O/A podiums, 7 O/A wins

Let's even pass on JS's first season as he was racing a KX250 against 450's, and look at his 2nd 450 season:

JS - 5 moto wins, 8 O/A podiums, 3 O/A wins

You’re a rookie when you turn pro in any sport. MX is a sport where a lot of times guys in the 250 class are better than those racing the 450 class. Just go compare lap times of the the top 20 in each class at Millville and you’ll see what I mean.

This topic just cracks me up.  Of course I (we) love close, hard fought racing.

The fact that there is ONE rider that is laying wood too the competition doesn't take away from the war that is happening behind him or his victories.

If this were Chase, Ando, Plessy, Noren, etc, instead of Jett...I'd still feel the same.

I guess I started this topic, because I find it ironic that people who are making up excuses for as to why Jett Lawrence is on track to a perfect season and who hope for an unfortunate problem to arise to prevent it, were perfectly fine when Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart had their perfect seasons and didn't make up any excuses of it being because they were racing against a weak field of competition.  I look at RC's perfect season with a bit more respect, because he did race against some pretty good competition, but 2008 was absolutely a weak field of competition, but James Stewart get's all kinds of mad respect and if a comparison between 2023 and 2008 is made, a person is somehow labeled a hater.  Yes! I prefer close hard fought racing, but I also respect the talent Jett Lawrence is displaying and I hope to see history made and a rookie accomplish what is an extremely difficult feat.  Obviously there's a huge amount of interest, because during yesterdays race they showed an endless sea of cars and rv's parked at Spring creek and I expect Washougal to be the same, so a Superstar like Jett is what this sport needs and it will be interesting to see who steps up their game to challenge him.

How do you know who was rooting for RC and Stewart during their perfect seasons?

Geezus Christ, who hasn’t had a better 1st 450 season than James!? Ohh btw, James and Ricky had to race each other for 3 years! 1st and 2nd in total wins had to race each other and they’re still 1st and 2nd in total wins. That’s mind boggling to me! We’re comparing apples to oranges! Dungey had a better 1st 450 season in both SX and MX than James and RC. WGAF

Jett will have the best 1st 450 MX season ever, but like mx2b said, let’s see the stats at the end of his career. Maybe he breaks all the records, maybe he doesn’t, but comparing Jett’s 1st 450 MX season to James and RC is, like I said apples to oranges, to many different circumstances and variables.

There's another poll I started about RC, JS and Jett Lawrence against each other their rookie season in the premier class, this isn't it.  It's a thread about whether or not you cheer for or are against Jett Lawrence having a perfect season.   Let's try to stay focused.

16 moto's 16 straight up wins for the Jettster, it's a given that he's going to win the championship unless some freak thing happens like what happened to Eli, but I find the racing fantastic right now between him and Chase.  The only thing that could make it better is if Tomac was in there and 3 way battle's for the checkered flag, but even if Justin Barcia and Cooper Webb were out there,  they'd be a 30 to 60 seconds behind the pace of those guys.   I really wish, just for the drama it would create that Jeffrey Herlings would show up for the last race of the season to see if he has anything for the kid.

Stewarts perfect season was accomplished with a some what reduced field.
Yet the record books say he was perfect, Langstons championship was with a some what deleted field yet he still have the title. Riders race against the field that shows up to compete the guy that has the most points or wins in this case wins period. If Jett wins every moto he earned it 100 percent! Just like Chase earned the SX championship! Asterisks are for but hurt fans!

I agree absolutely and think it's a shame that some people even bring up the depleted field comments and that somehow he's being gifted a perfect season, kind of like how they say Chase Sexton was gifted the 2023 Supercross title.  Other than Eli Tomac, I can't think of anyone other than Eli Tomac and Ken Roczen that might have had a chance to sneak a win in this year in Motocross, so Jett earns every bit of this perfect season if it happens.

So! after 10 Nationals, it all comes down to this weekend to see History made and the only Rookie to ever manage to come into the premier class and go perfect, but some are still praying for some kind of mishap to happen to the kid and prevent it, which is sad.  If he does it, it'll put in him to that special class of achievements like RC's 15 AMA championships and McGrath's 72 SX wins, by being the only Rookie who's ever done it.   There will be a lot more of these # 1 Plates for the Lawrence brothers and it will be good to see Honda's having them all in 2024

Get the perfect season. Sexton is the only guy who has anything for him and hes come up short every time. Now if he does it next year (whether again or the first time), if the field is a little more healthy then ill be more impressed than this year.
