You can see it in straight rhythm where some do the best riders in the world mess up just a tiny bit and it ruins their whole rhythm, four strokes just have so much power, these guys clear everything with ease..

In a perfect world, 2 strokes, no computers telling guys how to ride, no dark fish to tell riders what lines to take, no holeshot devices, just rider VS rider

Man, these things are so slow and under suspended.

I guess I'll never understand nostalgia.

Beat me to it. It's over. It's been over. 4-strokes aren't going anywhere. I will be adding a 250 2-stroke to go with my 350 though if it means anything

Yeah, I skimmed it. Personally, I'll take a modern-day Supercross over that any day of the week. An early to mid-2000s Supercross though...now you have my attention.

Stupid thread, awesome video! My dad and I were at the Goodman's party, I think I was sitting on Grayson's tanning bed during that basketball game. lol

Also, I got a picture of Bradshaw's loop out at 7:35 in the video:

OP....yes they did.   Along with all the other "skill" enhancers (start grates, start blocks, holeshot devices, telemetry, traction control/launch assist and "RPM" lights.    Electric bikes will only further the decline.     The sport is becoming a video game.

The loss of riding skill  with 450's having too much power that forgive any mistakes.

Supercross has become a circus show of practiced to death aerial gymnastics.  (with the exception of Atlanta and Daytona).

The expense of the 4 strokes too, this has taken "affordability" out of the equation for the few people who want to get into the sport.

I see this sport going the way of Barnum and Bailey.

EDIT:  One more thing....the increased severe injuries.

Long live races like the World 2-Stroke Nationals.

I was at that race! I'll agree that the sounds of the 2 stroke where just amazing at that time. But racing is just as exciting now as it was then. The 4 stroke is just a changing of the times and an opportunity for the sport to grow and move forward. But we can agree to disagree. JMO

I will try and help you. With 50 HP and 12" of travel these bikes are nearly as capable as the 2 strokes of today. Now the track design is a reason they look awkward compared to today's tracks. Most riders are looking at no more than 4-5 seconds per lap slower.

I randomly rewatched the 1990 Atlanta Supercross this past weekend. Still the greatest SX race of all time.  I somewhere there in the stands that night, it was very cold.

The sport was just so much better back then.   The tracks were way more interesting.  That Atlanta track had elements that remind me of current Daytona/Atlanta MS tracks which are the only interesting tracks in SX anymore.

Thanks for sharing a blast down memory lane of the greatest era.

Today's SX is still very good, just a different form of racing than before.

Growing older taught me one thing. Change is inevitable. Soon enough we'll be mourning the loss of 4-strokes when electric bikes take over the night shows.

Gotta learn to roll with the punches. Keep on to the good memories and visit them as often as needed. Form new memories with the new bikes and riders, they deserve it.

Just stop watching the sport dude. You don’t ride, all you do is bitch about the sport and talk about the ‘good ol days’. The sport would be better off without people like you.

If only the vintage forum could contain all of the complaining about the loss of two strokes.

If you want to go back to the good old days and how racing used to be, buy a vintage bike and race it locally. Might even “grow the sport” while you’re at it.

I got a new 4 stroke and a old 2 stroke bed tif both worlds total different experience just need to find more time to ride been working lots of OT but taking some time off now after this past job but too hot to ride for this old man I try to make a trip down south to ride Hangtown every year October or so about 11-12 hours from here but worth it I’d like to make Lakewood one day too but prairie city just keeps calling so far I have ridden washougal Hangtown redbud I didn’t care for washougal much and it’s the closest to me go figure I’m a Yamaha man but the new kawasakis look okay too just don’t ride enough to justify a new steed this year or the last 4 1998 yz125 and 2017 250f keeping me happy in different ways a 450 would probably just be too much for me anyhow I don’t trust kawi 250s
