I can break the 1 minute mark consistently, even with a small crash. Times are only about .5 secs off on the 250F. I even lapped a guy racing the couches.
That uphill quad is way slower than doubling the last two. The secret to going fast is to maintain your speed through the two switchback sections. You want to be able to be pinned wide open going through the right handers. Quading that section means blowing the corner and your set-up for the next right hander leading into the sand whoop straight.
In college my roomate and I would race eachother on DirtBike over our 56k network. Man I loved that game!
You own a PC TIki? Shame on you.

This game is actually pretty amazing. Like going through the sand whoops and trying to time them without swaping is awesome. Also the fact that you have to brake, use body english, wheelie stuff, ect, to get a fast lap is very cool. You can't just pin it everywhere like before. Being smooth actually helps.
I wish they still had the preload like before. They've had that system for so long, I can't believe they changed it. Have the Rainbow guys explained why they changed it?
Other than the zero-gravity-yellow tire-bounce, I am completely satisfied with the game and the level of REALISM. Once you realize you actually have to let off the throttle and brake to make a corner on a 450 (imagine that?), you can really start to flow. You CANNOT ride the 450 like the 250 and be consistent - at least I can't yet. I can get lucky for a lap or so, but balls-to-the-wall on the 450 is not going to fly for an entire race - especially when the track gets rough.
I love how the bike and rider react in the air - as long as you don't slam the sticks around. I found a huge gap in the lobby, and the way your rider "stretches" it out to make it even looks realistic.
Just a few of my hundred thoughts, and it's really nothing that hasn't been said before - but I just wanted to say I appreciate the work that went into this game.
Can't wait for the full version - on my way out to pre-order it right now...
This was a good read...

Pit Row
I am also very happy that the preload is gone.
(From one of the RBW guys) Here is a tip to throw a pretty stock whip.
Go off the jump holding back on the right stick. As soon as you leave the jump push the left stick right or left, right after you do that roll the right stick up the same direction. When you want to come out of it, let go of the sticks and pin the throttle or correct the other direction with just the left.
First of all, Reflex is definitely headed in the right direction with allowing more maneuverability within the bike AND rider -- which I completely love.
What does everyone think of the whips? I am on the fence with this one right now...
The only time I can really get the rider to throw a nice whip is if I hold the right-stick forward diagnol (going up the lip), but this is more of a scrub.
If I try to pull back on the right-stick (going up the lip) and roll it to the left or right the back end just seems heavy and never lifts in the air.
I have tried using the left-stick in conjunction with the right and also using the rear brake, but nothing gives.
Either I am just really used to the previous MX games or this isn't the way you whip in Reflex.
I did however catch this video which shows some pretty sick whips -- just a matter of time I guess.

i'm starting to figure out how to hold my momentum rather than slamming the corner and trying to turn tight. that doesn't really mean go outside everywhere, just keep a steady momentum..
awesome game, getting better every time i play
my 54 was on the 450 and it was all about staying smooth and never getting squirrely. it was tough, i was stuck at 57 and mid 56 for a long time and it finally clicked. now i can get into the 55's almost every race. the 54 was within 2 hundredths of being a 55, so i don't really count it.
