This song made me forget who the Beatles were and began my fascination with Lead Guitar.

This is the music that REALLY changed my life. While growing up my parents listened to this whinny twisted crap all the time and to this day country music turns my stomach.

this band- this song specifically.I visited UNC as a high school senior already knowing I was going there in the fall. This song and album were playing everywhere that weekend. It opened my mind to something besides Boston and the Doors. Interesting topic btw dropbear

I was into nothing but 60's and 70's guitar related jamming music until I came across these guys. They are the perfect everything band to me. Every instrument and part is played to be part of the song, not just some silly jam out for the sake of jamming.

I learned so much from this group, especially in my guitar playing and drumming skills. The interaction between Levon's snare and kick has so much damn feel to it. I could listen to him play a kit for days.

As for more recent stuff over the past few years...... I was very lucky to have an amazing guitar teacher who was extremely hip and who thought for some reason that I deserved to be shown some cool things. He played with a ton of bands and was involved in a lot of records. One day he took me over to the city to a session he was on with some dude named Ryan Adams. I had heard of him but though his music sucked. BUT. That one day changed the way I looked at music and opened my eyes to a lot of things. Here is a vid of some of the sessions when I got to sit in the back of the room and be amazed.

Then... once I was at UNC I heard this the first time I tried mushrooms- It's funny, I hardly ever listen to REM anymore, but I listen to the Smiths still (all the time really)

My favorite pieces of music were by Vivaldi when I played the cello. I played for eight years but I lost interest in it when I got an electric guitar at 16.

I bought this album the same week I bought my first dirt bike in 1970. Launched my two life long passions at the same time. Riding moto and playing guitar.

Listening to Dark Side of the Moon all the way through, and the stereotypical Stairway to Heaven, and When the Levee Breaks really changed how I enjoyed music.
And watching SRV play Voodoo Chile live at austin city limits is what got me into playing blues.
