I know, I know. All of you guys irrationally love 2 strokes for some reason.
Other than sound, they kind of suck. I recently bought a 250 2 stroke and had a newer 450. 2 stroke was fun for about 2 weeks and for DITD. Aside from that, less power, harder to ride, more arm pump.
2 strokes have been glorified to be better than they really are.
although this is sure to turn into a shit show. Im truly curious why so many people deep throat over 2 strokes.
Should I send this to the Dumbgeon now or in a couple of hours after it turns into a total shit show?
Just sold mine and agree , I think there great if your doing a two stroke only series but if that’s not the case it’s a disadvantage to your average rider ( not saying all because some rip on them ) but in general .
Now would save us all from the haters

I like the forced aggression to stay in the meat of the power and the ability to pop up and over stuff with a quick flick of the ankles.
They’re not cool because they’re easy to ride, they’re cool because they require aggression and commitment. Not everyone can do it and out of those who can, not all of them enjoy it. It’s all for fun anyway, just ride what you enjoy!
My thoughts exactly. i got the 2 stroke after years of being on the 2 stroke bandwagon but after actually riding it, I am probably going to sell it lol
Just curious why everyone has a hard on for 2 strokes
In before the shitshow!!!
Do you want to know the truth?
The 2t has to be ridden the 4t is easier and helps you and forgives.
The electric in some mini tracks you are even faster, but then you forget how to ride a bike.
The 2t is fun if you know how to ride it. No one ever said that with the 2t you are faster.

call me old school but I have a Beta 300RX and if I'm stuck with only 1 bike that's the one I'll take home every single time. It doesn't do one thing amazing but it does everything pretty good. I've taken it on hard enduro stuff, desert races, motocross, GP races, as well as just trail rides with my kids. I've literally done it all with that bike and it just does pretty damn good for all of it.
2 strokes are much more challenging to ride fast and effectively and when you master that, it's much more rewarding for people that like riding them
damn thats much better response than I was expecting lol Thats a response I understand and cant argue with. I was fully expecting irrational responses that dont answer the question and just call me a dildo, Dbag, Goon, etc. lol
Nothing beats riding a 125 if you know how to do it.
If you dont, yes I can understand the complains
There are specialty sub-forums on Reddit, if all you want is people to degrade you.
Just love all motorcycles for crying out loud.
Maybe i should buy this shirt
It takes actual skill to ride a 2 stroke fast.
4 strokes killed skill. ...and with all the ever encroaching technology, it's only going to get worse. Enjoy your video game ride.

Maybe you should try a four wheeler with some cup holders
I think some of it is nostalgia. When I see or hear 2 strokes I'm taken back to some of the happiest childhood days of watching the local races and smelling the smoke or wrenching on my rm80 in my garage with my dad. It is a different animal too. A guy let me ride his 06 rm125 last year at the track (he rode my 250f) and I am pretty sure you couldn't have slapped the smile off my face.
yes you are right. Thats why you and I are so much closer in speed to tomac now than we were to RC on a 2 stroke. Because 4 strokes killed skill. Makes perfect sense.
My Last two stroke was my kx85. Four strokes are so much more fun to ride. Especially on dry beat up tracks. Parts on four strokes seem to last way longer and maintenance intervals are nowhere near as extreme as they were 15 years ago. To each their own though!
only if it has heated grips as well
Watch a 90's or early 00's supercross and get back to me on if you still agree with your post title
.
You are right though in that they aren't amazing in terms of easily making your lap times as fast as possible. But the fun factor has to be worked into the equation.
4 strokes are like a handicap.. it definitely takes more skill and effort to go fast on a smoker..
Lol. Sorry to disappoint. I'm sure you won't be the last person today that I disappoint. Wife says we have dinner/date plans tonight. I'm gonna let her down too i'm sure. hahaha
It took me a long time to finally convert to a 4stroke as my main race bike. And while I think I am a better 4stroke rider, I added a 125 to the stable and have mostly had one in addition to whatever 4stroke that I own. I think once a person's riding style meshes with a 4stroke it's very hard to switch back to a 2stroke. But a 125 sort of doesn't count because they are so light and playful that you can sort of manhandle the bike around. but a 250 2stroke is too much bike to be careless with.
That being said, this is all based on motocross. I seem to prefer a 2stroke in the woods. Not that I'm a big woods guy but for the woods riding that I do, I prefer the quicker side to side feel of the 2stroke and lack of engine braking. In moto, I've learned to use the engine braking to help me in turns and even helps level the bike on jumps etc. I think that is a lot of why it's hard to get used to the 2stroke when you are used to a stroke for MX. Plus they kind of skate around and I like the planted, 4stroke feel for moto.
2 strokes & 4 strokes are not better or worse, they are just different & require a different approach to riding fast.
A good rider will win on either bike.
Nothing better to wide open a 250 2 strokes on a fresh track.
For those guys that ride all the time and rarely update their bikes, 250cc or 300cc 2-strokes are great.
By the time you blow your 4-stroke for the second time, likely you'll be questioning weather you want to keep banging your head against the wall while draining your wallet and missing out on ride time. Sure, you can get to be more proficient at the process, but there is no getting away from the time and expense and headache.
For hard enduro, the 2-strokes run cooler.
In really soft dirt/mud, they are hands down better at corner entry where you're going full Kamikaze into a turn. Change direction easily and skip over deep bumps or change ruts. They are great for getting creative and squaring up a turn.
Excluding the latest KTMs, they are simple to work on (carb, kick start) for trail side fixes.
Some people like the sound, others like the act of premixing gas, and others like the smell.
