Hello all,
Considering moving out of commiefornia and im looking at either arizona or utah. I was wondering if some locals could tell me about the tracks there, i found a website but i think its outdated, and it didnt have much info. I would be open to hearing about ALL tracks in the whole of either state, and of course public and private, as maybe i can make friends with people who have private ride spots.

As outdoor friendly as Utah is the track selection kinda sucks. There is a state run one in north Salt Lake that has gotten better the last couple years. One down in Price but that's 1.5hr drive. One in Logan, that's a 1.5 hour drive. We've got some good single track/desert riding in between all that though.
Seems like they're always shutting stuff down and never opening anything new, story of a dirtbike riders life I guess.
yeah i have heard amazing things about the desert/trail riding, but at heart i love the tracks. I would be looking to live in southern utah i believe, but three in the whole state is a little rough
i mean for as many as they have closed in california, i still got Perris, elsinore, glen helen, cahuilla, LACR all within 1/1.5 hours of me. Add a little more and i got Fox/pala and barona oaks, and theres still some in that distance class in cal city. and most of those places have numerous tracks! literally the only positive i can think of in staying in this state, also the weather. might have to accept a trade off 
There is a track in mesquite NV and Cedar City that are both 35 minutes from St George…a track in Delta, one in Tooele (I think), Monticello, Moab, Price, Ogden (member only track, but I think anyone can join), Vernal (I think), Mona, North Salt Lake, I see one off the 15 in Beaver but it doesn’t look like it’s open (or at least it’s not been maintained in years). There are quite a few spread around the state…but lost are quite the drive from southern Utah. And very few are actually maintained except race weekends….but it’s been almost 15/20 years since I’ve done the moto scene here so a lot could have changed since then.
But you can only move here if you will place your left hand on the Bible and raise your right arm to the square and promise to not vote for the policies or the kind of people that turned California into Commiefornia. J/k..but seriously, don’t do that.
you listed quite a lot there! bummer on the maintaining aspect though. def spread out, but would be an opp to get to know the state for sure. do you remember if these places had numerous tracks like vet and main or just one?
i have no intention of voting like most californians do. why would i want to make a place i move to like the place i am trying to escape from !!! lol my biggest concern are job opps to be honest, something ill have to look into

Like I said, it’s been a decade or two for me (someone else in the know can correct me), but I’m fairly confident in saying they all have one track (Ogden and North Salt Lake the possible exceptions). That one track will likely look more like a vet track (mesquite being an exception).
I only say that about voting because you’d be surprised how many people move here from California because they hate it there, but then continue voting for liberal politicians and policies. It blows my mind…
but otherwise, if utah is where you land, you’ll love it here. It’s a great place to live. And welcome!
Arizona has many amazing single track trails in abundance. Unfortunately, we really only have 3 tracks in the PHX/Tucson area. ACP on the west side, Motoland in Casa Grande, and then a 3rd track in the Stanfield area Maricopa Motorsports park. I greatly appreciate and value all of the MX tracks we have here now (after 2 more were closed in the last year in ET and Canyon closing). Those 3 tracks are all decent with ACP and Motoland being the more popular. Being honest, our tracks don't really compare to the CA tracks, but we still value and appreciate them. The new owner at Motoland has done a fantastic job of working on the track to improve it, and attendance has increased significantly (ET closing has helped in that). All are fun tracks to ride and the owners are all good people. From what I have been told is there are now some county rules in place for Maricopa and Pinal counties that no "new" tracks are allowed to open. The 3 we have now are pretty safe from being far away enough from developers, which is what killed ET and Canyon. Sure would be nice to have a few more options. Wish Ocotillo would open back up since it is an existing track that wouldn't be considered "new".
i have heard that about cali transplants and its crazy that they would do that. it makes zero sense. youd think they would just stay lol. there are numerous reasons for me wanting to leave besides the cost of living. i hate the gun laws here which is my other hobby (funny how ALL my hobbys cant be cheap eh) and the crime, and the list goes on. like i said only the weather and motocross tracks are what seem to keep me, and i guess job opps. id prob have to do a career change but i would be open to that anyway. It does sound like there is a decent enough amount of tracks there and road trips can always be fun. I havent been to utah yet so i def plan on visiting soon to go and check out that beautiful state!
Yeah, i have heard about the desert and trail riding in arizona as well, and would be taking advantage of that, but i def prefer the tracks. Damn, 3 tracks is a bummer!!! sad to hear the other two had closed. So theres one still in existence, just not open to public? Bummer about the no new tracks rule. I love phoenix as a city, ive been there a lot the past couple years and always enjoy myself and have been told to go visit prescott and flagstaff. Maybe the north side of the state could use a track lol, ive always wanted to open one! I wonder if anyone could work out any deals with some of the local indian tribes, i know that that is how a few tracks in socal operate, and it allows them to dodge all of commiefornias regulations in regards to environment rules and what not.
I moved to arizona almost 2 years ago. We wanted to go to Idaho because of the mountains and the beautiful state but unfortunately the pay was terrible for my union and my wife being a nurse. We ended up in arizona. I grew up in corona and lived in Murrieta for 12 years. I loved glen helen growing up and cahuilla by far is my fav track now. Acp does a good job with what they have but it’s not cahuilla dirt but still 10x better than Elsinore. If you mountain bike,believe it or not, the mountain biking is really good. Tons of trails. Not sure what you do for work or family but queen creek,San tan, Gilbert are all nice, stay away from Phoenix..
living in the east valley, why drive all the way to ACP and not Motoland? They are very comparable in my opinion. Used to be not so, but with the new owner at Motoland they are similar in quality. Unfortunately, Canyon was one of the tracks more built to what you were likely used to. Wish it was still around as the elevation changes were really cool.
St. George would be great. Mesquite is not far at all and looks to be terrific. There are some private tracks in STG and maybe you could make friends with them and get access. I think there is a track in Cedar City too.....and in the meantime the off road riding there is really great.
There’s a really healthy moto scene in Utah. Look up the RMX series/Grassroots Productions, by far the best racing on the west coast, they travel from Mesquite all the way to southern Idaho and sometimes up to Boise. Great tracks, great competition and excellently run. Lots of Californians are coming up for these races now.
We live in St. George, being originally from So Cal I was in the max two hour drive to a track mindset but in Utah you’re going to have to travel to ride/race year around. The drives are a lot easier and the scenery is great. It’s about 6 hours from St George to Cache Valley MX but so worth the drive. It’s only 5 back to GH as well…it’s the closest place to being jn So Cal without being in So Cal.
The SLC are has Jordan River and OCA open regularly, although you may have to join OCA. Cache Valley and 80 acres are about 3 hours north of there.
Mesquite from October to April is great and only going to get better.

We need more people voting like you do here. The bureaucracy in Utah loves big government. Although the people in the state are conservative the elected officials are mostly sellout RINOs.
Yes, there is a track in Eloy called Ocotillo that is closed down for now but could open back up with some work done to it. It has some good potential. I've always thought that getting a new track up around Prescott would be great as there is a really strong moto community up there. We had AX and EX in Prescott this past year and both were well attended. You could have some cooler weather (but still warm enough to ride pretty much year round - yet not the crazy heat we get in the valley). There was a track that was on one of the indian reservations about a decade ago that was pretty cool called Grinding Stone. A kid got hurt and the dad sued, and the track got closed down by the indians. Big bummer because it was a track built into the natural desert terrain. Ricky Dietrich used to ride out there frequently. Lots of potential in AZ.

My son and I tried moto land. After a few hours those tracks get so hard and squared edged bumps it’s like riding at lake Elsinore track. If I was younger and jumping most things it would be a rad track. The vet there is terrible. Acp has everything what I’m looking for,the vet track is large and fast and flowy and the main track is super fun and they tend to rip that alittle deeper. Most of there big jumps they make so the not so fast Guys can still double on top and keep your flow. I’ll drive more if the track is better. I’ve been riding single track for the last 3 years before I moved here with all my buddies. I like Offroad and single track,I just don’t know anyone out here that rides Offroad. Im getting to the point in my life where I’m close to selling the bike and just riding mountain bikes and racing enduro races. My kid still wants to ride at 16 so that’s my only reason I’m still riding.at 45 years old riding a 125 has never been so much fun.
Racing scene is good in Utah. Open practice scene not so much.
Didn’t the kid sneak onto Grinding Stone and wad himself up real bad or get killed causing the law suit? I grew up in FH but never had a chance to ride there due to military service. Now i’m retiring and want to move home but holy monkey i’m not moving to queen creek or AJ… wish i never sold my town house by Tempe Market Place or i could just go back there and get settled back home … looks like i’m staying in Vegas for now!
Motoland has completely changed their Vet track from a while back. Not sure when you went there last. Its usually the busiest track on any given weekend now. More riders on the vet than the main usually. Honestly, I prefer it over the ACP vet track because the ACP vet track is too smooth with very few ruts to work on corners. ACP's is faster and flowy, but its not going to help you corner better or really make you a better rider. I agree with you on the ACP main track. Its generally pretty safe and the doubles are super easy if you want to lay up and not triple. The sand sections at ACP's main track are a lot of fun. If you haven't been to Motoland in over a year, you may want to check it out again with all the changes. Get there early as the dirt is best early, the dirt does get really beat up and square edged later in the day - but again, riding that beat to death terrain makes you a better rider (even if its not as much fun).

i so far have loved phoenix when i went, but i have not been to any of the other areas you listed, just goodyear and the outskirts to pick up some parts. sounds like i gotta do more exploring. i wouldnt mind living a little bit outside of the city.
Right now i do armed security in los angeles. Im trying to get into the heavy equipment ops union for an apprenticeship, and im on a waiting list. The one in PHX said come on in as they are hiring so i figured i might do that. I have to check and see where the closest one for one of those would be in utah and what they pay compared to AZ and what not. there would be a whole bunch of stuff i would have to figure out to be honest, id prob have to save a good amount to cushion myself as my certificates dont work in AZ for security and id have to get those state ones, and there isnt as much of a need for it out there as people can legally defend themselves lol. From what ive seen, obviously both places have a cheaper cost of living but i feel like id prob be able to make more in AZ rather than UT and the UT prices are not that much cheaper than AZ, in rent at least.
i have heard wonderful things about st george, and it looks like some of the housing is affordable, i would just have to figure out what to do for work. Glad to here there are some private tracks, and i have heard a lot of good about mesquite.

Yeah that 2 hour drive mindset will be hard to break, but like you said if the driving is better and the scenery is better i could deal with that. a 2 hour drive in socal can easily turn into 4 with traffic. ive heard lots of good things about st george, how are the winters there ? lol. ill have to look up some price comparisons from AZ to UT. all i know is, what they want me to pay for registration out here on my cars, one is 120 in LA and they want 50 in AZ. and my 55 ford they want 140 out here and az said 25$! knowing its only 5 or so back to so cal for a weekend is appetizing as well, as ill still have lots of friends and family here. but im glad to here there is a healthy racing and riding scene out there in the whole state!

Ya, rumors were the kid forged his parents signature on the waiver to get access, crashed really bad and dad sued the track, which ended up shutting it down. Similar waivers at other tracks now have to be signed and notarized, for good reason. Lots of rumors swirled about the dad. I can't confirm any of it, just all rumors. The track owner didn't have any real value, so they sued the indian reservation (who had a lot more money). That got it shut down. Usually when there is a lawsuit, the lawyers go after the deeper pockets (i.e. not the track owner, but insurance companies, the county govt, or reservation/govt.). It never ends well. Too often it gets a track shut down. I think that was what happened to Firebird's MX track back around 2008/09, but again that was just a rumor. I know there was a bad crash at Firebird and shortly thereafter it was closed down.
Phoenix lost 80% of its tracks in last 15 years. It used to be a first class moto town.

Luckily it still has Arizona cycle park ( ACP) which is a high quality track run by people that knows what’s up and are hardcore moto.
If ACP ever goes away it’s time to move to Dallas where moto is still thriving.
