Hello everyone! I am new to Vital MX other than "watching" from time to time and I was hoping some of you could chime in with some suggestions as to what models to purchase for my wife and daughters.

This will be my first family purchase as I have always ridden on my own so I have never needed to make a decision for others.

Our primary riding will be motocross (mostly practice days to begin with) and some off-road/camping/trails.

My wife has limited motorcycle experience, but she has ridden many 4 wheelers etc and understands clutch operation etc. I would say her understanding of throttle control/balance would be well above average for a female. For her, I am thinking a CRF 150 Expert. I don't want to put her on something with weak suspension etc and I am hoping this would not be too powerful. Is a 250F a better choice?

My first daughter is 15 and she has very little experience other than automatic 4 wheelers. I have no idea what to look at for her due to her lack of experience. She is about 5' 3" and weighs 125+. I was thinking a CRF 230 maybe?

My other daughter is 5 and she has bicycle only experience.....CRF 50?

As you can see, I favor Honda's, but if another brand has a better suited model, let me know what you think! Please do not get into a brand debate though.....

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and/or help!

Jeff

Im going to get crucified for this... YZ 250. I love 4-strokes for racing but I have never had as much fun as I have on the YZ. Im only 2 weeks into owning it and it's been the best decision I've made in a long time.

Cyg the comedian! Har .... sort of.

To answer the question, Get them something that won't kill them on the first crack of the throttle. My sons girl friend has a TT 125 Yam and is fine on it. She has experience also. If you need more, then use it for the younger ones and buy 250F for your bride, you might end up using it yourself, which might not be a bad thing. Make sure they are safe first, Now ...... STFU.

I feel the same way about my RM250......At the end of the day if I'm not racing professionally for a living it's all about FUN and that's what I get when riding my 250 smoker.....ridden a 4 stroke and a 2 stroke back to back and yes the 4 stroke is more effective for going fast but lack the fun and excitement a 2 stroke delivers.

So you suggest a TT125 for an adult female on a motocross track and trails? Too small could also be unsafe....

What the heck are you telling me to STFU for? I was looking for intelligent responses but maybe I came to the wrong forum?

Also, I am not sure where the 2 stroke to 4 stroke comparison came from.....I was asking for size/models for family members......

The way you posted, I was giving advice based on the info given. If she has no experience she shouldn't be on a 250F, let alone a track . A 230 is not going to be any different on an Mx track, they are not designed for tracks. Keep her safe , quit whining and STFU .

Go with the Yamaha models for the electric start. Specically the 50. And the TTR 125L models will be good enough for track work fro them for now. I have a buddy who's wife rides a TTR 125L on the track and loves it.

I am going to ask every time a similar thread appears:

"Did ronron.com close down, recently?"

Thanks for your time.

Height/weight of your wife might help to allow better suggestions.

As for your older daughter, if she doesn't have much experience, a CRF230 may be a bit on the heavy side for her.

Smaller 4 strokes will probably be easier for them to learn on, nothing too heavy, and e-start would probably also be a bonus.

Take them to a dealer to see what feels comfortable to them. If you know people with models similar to what you're considering, see if they can try those out.

Good luck. Smile
