National Stadium, Singapore to Erupt as WSX Makes its Asian Region Debut
SX Global, the official and exclusive promoter of the FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX), has today revealed the location of its Asian round is in Singapore, within the iconic National Stadium, the region’s premier sports, entertainment and lifestyle venue. The Asian round will be known as the WSX Singapore Grand Prix.
In an exciting coup for the Championship, the event will be promoted via a joint venture partnership with promoter Lushington Entertainments and the team that, through its corporate affiliate, Singapore GP, stages one of the biggest motorsport and entertainment events on the planet, the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix.
Undoubtedly one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations and renowned sports and entertainment hubs of the East, Singapore will host WSX for the first time, attracting fans from not only Asia but from around the globe to experience elite supercross competition. WSX will feature 40 racers from 10 teams competing on the ultimate dirt battlefield. Fans can expect thrilling, high-flying supercross action, entertainment, and pyrotechnics.
SX Global CEO Adam Bailey said Singapore was an obvious choice to host a World Supercross Championship round because of its geographical location and world-class venue offering.
“Within a three-hour flight of Singapore are the world’s largest motorcycle markets, including Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, making South-East Asia an extremely important region for the World Supercross Championship as we continue to expand our global footprint.
“Partnering with Lushington Entertainments is a huge opportunity for the Championship and for supercross as a whole. We are thrilled to be working with the same team that helms the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, the original night race that set the benchmark for combining on-track activity with world-class entertainment and music acts.

Like the WSX or not, it’s a higher paying alternative for everyone involved, especially privateers. If you’re a privateer, you’d be insane not to race this instead of the Nats.

I should be there - I have work in Thailand around that time, and I'll be spending a few weeks as well based out of Singapore.
I really considered going to the 24th Sept LA Stadium SuperdooperMotocross - for the tradition and history of it coming back to racing, but, spending a squillion$ as against being paid to travel, well, it's not hard to make the decision. I can also go to the Malaysian MotoGP, easily and cheaply while I'm there too, as I did a few years ago.
I stay just a few minutes away - well, most everything is only a few minutes away in Singapore. I really like the place, and it's a great base for getting to other countries nearby.

Many of the riders are not making what you think they are as the teams get the purse money and not the riders and it's up to them in how they pay the riders. Some have deals that they do get 100% of the purse but the majority are getting a fraction of the purse.
It’s all a little confusing. I think theres a long page somewhere that explains it all - SX MX SMX WSX and there’s playoffs and I think they’re called GPs.
This may be true. But are they racing and making more money than they would outdoors? I promise you that every rider there from the US is making more than they would this summer in any other capacity.

They might be making more money racing WSX than they would be racing outdoors, however if they raced outdoors and earned enough points to qualify in the Top 20 for SMX they would probably earn more money doing that.
SMX has over 400k being paid out for each playoff event. Then they pay out even more money for the riders that finish in the Top 22 in the SMX series.
I know that some of the riders are racing both SX and WSX and will still qualify for the SMX playoffs, but had they raced outdoors they would've had a better seeded position heading into the SMX playoffs giving them a better chance at earning even more money.
Other than 1 round conflict, the riders can still do that.

Benny Bloss was just on Pulp saying that was his plan until the Beta offer came through last minute.
Grant Harlan is doing this right now.
If a rider wants to hustle, they can make a lot of money this year across all three series.
Two round conflict, RedBud and Millville both conflict with WSX.
Chiz is only doing the first three outdoors to secure enough points to seed himself into SMX.

He said he may do the first 3 and last 3 on Pulp. But even taking into count the two rounds, a rider could race 17 SX, 9 MX, 4 WSX, and 3 WSX if the chips fell right and they wanted to really grind.
Or people who like outdoors or SX more now get better options for what suits them and their lifestyle, wants, training and practice budgets, etc
I'm looking forward to some good racing, 250s should be interesting. I kinda wish Matt Moss was in the 250s again this year
I'm wondering if we'll see Reedy with a microphone at some of the rounds.
I find it odd Starling isn't doing any Outdoors or WSX. I get that he is getting married this summer and all but this could've been a financially rewarding year for him for the SMX playoffs. Even if he chose not to do WSX and just SMX/Outdoors he still probably would have made a pretty decent chunk. I would think these guys would be jumping at this like Chiz is doing. Him racing a few outdoors to secure points for SMX is smart. There's so much money to be had for those 3 races. It's not every year you could be making this sort of money with these factory guys out.
Dylan Wright is racing the Canadian round.
Matt is happy to be on 450, 24 Americans out of 40 riders. The other 2 Aussies are Clout and Tanti on 250, most Euro countries have only 1 or 2 riders. It really is a world event.
