Googles strap that break isn't rare. Happened to me multiple times, most of them was due to projections.

Did you see the ruts & rocks there? Ruts looked like High Point on steroids. Not surprising about the footpeg. I'm actually surprised we didn't see more bent shifters and brake pedals...

Both things happening in the same moto is extremely rare but let's not start with conspiracy theories. His googles weren't in Prado's possession nor his bike...

And Prado isn't a cheater. Sabatoge  like this doesnt exist in moto.

Did the footpeg break, the pin or the frame bracket?

Bummer for Herlings, but things do wear out.

Deegan was racing this weekend? Shit...missed it...

JS7 is retired.  So.....no.

Same sniper that got Eli's Achilles got Herling's goggle strap and footpeg.

 It appears the footpeg and spring are still there, but I cannot see the upper portion of the axle. Around 19:27 time stamp, he wiggles the peg. 

Could it be that a rock smashed the axle head or the frame bracket hard enough to shear it?

  I did gauge my 14' Berg frame/footpeg bracket by a good 0.25" deep, while being nowhere as fast as these guys.

If so, I predict we will see footpeg axle & footpeg bracket guards in the future on the orange bikes.

There is some footage from the front but cannot retrieve it. That could elucidate if the bracket sheared or the axle did.

  Hoping Ken Roczen would post the picture of the broken parts on instagram... lol

Am still surprised it's not the cast alloy footpeg that broke.

The dealer I bought my bike from said the new foot pegs are 3d printed. 

Metal 3d printing exists, but last I checked it was more frequent for the aerospace industry or applications where there is an advantage over traditional metallurgy. 

The KTM pegs look cast metal or forged to me. I can not find photo evidence yet that the footpeg alloy itself broke.

Looks more like the axle walked out or sheared, or the bracket on the frame itself cracked. 

I could be wrong... Still hunting for pics

KTM OE parts are made out of pot metal.
