I went down in the first turn of race 4 - 2nd moto the 45+ INT.
Unfortunately it looks like either the ambulance crew or part of my crew collected a red
pair of goggles that don't belong to me and I think belongs to someone who may have
broke their leg in the crash as well. I've had gear go missing after a crash and it just
adds insult to injury....literally.
I was hoping someone might know who's goggles they are. They're the expensive ones!
BTW can I tell you how awesome everyone at Loma Linda Hospital is from the doctors
and nurses all the way to the people who changed my sheets. Very dirt bike friendly,
never once did they ask me why or if I was finally going to quit. A total refreshing
surprise, that I have to think has something t do with Steve Bauer and the Big Air Fair.
Oh yeah, congrats to Doug Dubach and condolences to Ryno. I'm bummed I missed that 2nd pro moto, I heard Ryno rode the tire off his bike!!
OK you can commence with the traditional welcome.

(I know he didn't crash) going INTO the turn...tapped out in 5th, I highsided into baked
abode and body slammed into the 30 degree bank; but could I have been following too
closely? Thanks that seems to be the guy. Waiting to get "accepted" to Proride now.
Anyone whos already a member might want to let his son know abot my Vital post.
I'm so bummed for that guy, missing ADITD is the worst part; I only ended up taking
a 4 min. dirt nap, 4 broken ribs, punctured lung and broken scapula. My bike is freeking
totalled, but that guys leg is jacked; although they DO look like clean breaks away from
the joint surfaces. He may have some chioce words for me!?!

You're a good man, Fitz.
Heal up right, my brother.
I think your being too critical on yourself man! Heal up, glad everyone is going to be ok. it is the price we pay to play sometimes......
fuckin tail gaiters
when I was going for a huge hole to the front. Just wanted to take the high road so to
speak. I sure as heck don't fault the guy. I never do. I'm the guy that follows you to your
pits after you take me out in the last turn..........to high five and congratulate you on a
good move. It IS the price we pay.
And yeah you might have better luck finding the owner of those goggles on Proride.

There you go, putting yourself out and wishing me well after one of my crashes. If I remember correctly didn't you come visit me at UCI right after our race at Anaheim Stadium Amatuer SX back in '83! (yeah were that old) when I had that bitchen Halo Brace installed?
Either way I always thought of you as a solid human. Speaking of solid humans, this time one of my boys followed the ambulance to Loma Linda, spent the night in the parking lot giving my bro and family updates until I was stable and even called in sick the next day. His name is Steve Clark and he's the Surf Team / Marketing Manager of Billabong in case any of you surf cats out there are wondering what brand to buy. Support Those That Support The Sport, and he supports the sport more than alot of career MXers do.
It was good to see you as well at Perris and am just sorry I wasn't in good enough shape to dice more than 3 laps. Thats what I love about moto you just can't fake it. No matter how much cocky talk was coming out of my mouth I knew whatever place I rounded the first turn last weekend you could probably take one spot a lap off my result.
I'll be fine and no worse for the wear in the standard time, then give me another 60 -90 days and I WILL be in shape.....and no not the shape of a pear
I don't think that I was at the Anaheim Amateur SX, at least I don't remember being there..haha. I do remember racing the San Diego one though. I think I heard about your broken neck like a week or so later at Saddleback..
Anyways hurry up and get healed up so we can chase each other around the track like when we were kids...hahaha
and tell Ian I said hi,,,
Hmm I could of swore you were there, although I was highly medicated than (which I'm trying to avoid this time but it's getting to be a pain in the ass and other places right about now) I know Joe Melton showed up with a few guys that had just got done running me over LOL.
Like I said either way your solid. Give me 90 days and we b chasn' each other like little bunny wabbits. No shit, just knowing I farmed it and will be out of action for awhile, right when I was starting to gear up has got me more fired up to ride then in a long time.
Ian will be reading this soon but I'll pass along the word. How cool is it that were still riding with the same guys as almost 30 yrs ago.
-Thanks again for the positive vibes
Bummer on the crash and I wish the best for anyone that was injured.
Seriously though, it's racing, WTF?
Pit Row
P.S... some crashed hard that weekend. But everyone there had a great time and the Vet Nationals is a fun race to be at. I hope everyone heals and hope to see them back next year. Good luck getting the goggles back and let me know if I can help.
The Vet Worlds was a great event. I can't think of a better way for an old school moto fan from the east coast to get a taste of the So Cal moto experience. I arranged for a bike and support from Motocross Adventures and came out from Virginia for the race. Had a great time, met some new friends, and got to ride the famous Glen Helen track. Doesn't get much better than that!
Did you also suffer a bad ankle injury a few years ago?
Glad we met on Vital instead of in the first turn, and thanks for not drilling my head :-)
Thanks, I actually introduced myself to you the week prior at the SRA GP by REM sign up, I mentioned that you & Ozzy were two of the calmer heads prevailing in this "other" country club. You wern't so sure about yourself LOL.
I did do a pretty bad job on my achilles a few years ago and was actually spectating at either the Vet World's or maybe the Amateur Nats when we ran into each other while you were spreading the word about the bar ends you rep and keeping the racers hydrated with your magic fluid ERG?? by the staging area.
I'll see you at REM in about oh..........3 months or so which should include getting back in shape.
