I posted this in the YZ450 thread too BUT I am too excited to be 42 pages deep in a thread thats months old! I don’t get to get a new bike but maybe every 3 years or so and I have been dreaming of the day the new YZ would make its way into my stable, and dang if things didn’t fall my way for a change! Sehorn Yamaha in Shawnee Okla had one come available and my turn was up! I’m excited and FIRED UP to get this bad boy dialed in and out on the MX track as soon as possible!!!  New bike day is AWESOME! 😎❗️

Tomorrow can’t come soon enough!! Ha

Too bad we all can’t have the great feeling of “new bike day” way more often than we get to!

Thank you Matty!

I have been fortunate enough to have a bike or two of every brand over the last 40 years or so (and liked em all!) but I would probably say I am a “Yamaha guy” at my core, and my first “real” race bike was a 1983 YZ125! Over the following years I had a 1998 YZ400, a 2000 426, 2-02 426’s, an 05 YZ450, 2-09 450’s & a 2015 YZ450 and I loved them all too! I know this 2023 is an all new design and I am fired up excited to give the new offering from Yamaha a go!
(here’s a pic of me in all my 1984 Napolean Dynamite glory with my beloved 83 YZ!) 😝

When I got my last new bike I brought it inside our sun room to put a few parts on it and I actually did wake up (couldnt sleep) at like 4:00 am and went to look at it again. I hope it happens to you lol

Haha no doubt it’ll be a sleepless night!

I actually DID bring it in the house this evening, because as everyone knows, this time of year in Oklahoma, our weather is psycho crazy and we have more severe weather threatening again this evening!     SO we got the wife’s Jeep and my little runaround car in the garage with the other 2 dirt scoots wedged in, the race van snugged up against the house and the little street scooter locked up on the patio under the porch! The new scooter gets a “place of honor” in the entry way until mother nature calms her crazy butt down! 😵‍💫 AND props to my supportive & tolerant wife for 1. signing off on the P.O. and 2. bein’ cool with a moto- bike in the living room! Today has been a GOOD day! 😎 👍❗️

Isn’t it cool how “zen” working on it is? Just like when you’re riding, the ability to just focus on the moment is good for forgetting everything-else.

Thanks Guys!

I joked with the wife this morning that I’d had the craziest dream about getting a new YZ450 and then teasingly shouted out “holy crap, it WAS’NT a dream!!?” when I went down the hall with the new bike sitting in the entry way! I got the shop squared away and started working on all the usual new bike stuff, greasing linkage/steering bearings etc after ordering up a few misc accessories & backgrounds! I’ve always enjoyed the “process” nearly as much as the riding and the older I get the more I appreciate getting to tinker in my space with my dirt scooters! Hopefully I can prolong the new bike sheen as long as possible, but I bought it to ride first & foremost and I can’t wait for fun track days ahead!

And Reese, while I didn’t “speak” with my wallet, I did EMPTY my wallet!!! 😝

Cheers Guys and thanks for all the 👍❗️Its really great to share the new bike experience & excitement with like-minded vitalMX’ers!
