pro circuit cams

Has anyone used the pro circuit cams in there bikes? im thinking of putting them in an 09 kx250f and was wondering if i need to use the pro circuit springs to or if i can put in the cams with stock kawi components?

With Yamahas, stiffer valve springs were needed since the PC cams are more aggressive than say, Hot Cams. The Kawis may be the same. Hopefully someone can verify for you.

I would use the PC valve springs also. It will help reduce the chances of valve float. Stock valve spring are rated for stock lift and rpm. PC valve springs and retainers are rated for their cam lifts and rpm

I have a dyno test somewhere of the PC cams on the 09KXF250, they make less power than the stock ones. I'm not trying to bash them, but just telling it like it is. The Hotcams, same thing.

They all worked good on the '04-'08 heads... but the '09 head is totally diferent. Takes a very specail cam to work in that head.

make sure you degree the cams and then spot weld the sprocket on.....a few years ago I watched the PC KXF250 cams spin the sprocket on the dyno.....was driving the motor builder nuts...every run put up less HP.

I had a hunch this was the case, we had stage 2 hot cams in our 08 kx250f with two bros exhaust and thought it ran pretty good till we got the 09, the 09 bone stock with a little jetting adjustments will run circles around the 08. The 09 is a very good engine IMO.

I have used Crower Cams in everything I owned. They are I feel one of the greastest cams on the market. I agree with what everybody has said about the Hot Cams.

You can put the stage two hotcams in with stock everything. I have been running them for a year and love the power and I haven't had to adjust anything. I have a 2007 RMZ 250. I also put a vertex high compression piston in it, it runs like a champ now.

Some of you guys have to remember that just because it felt good in your make/model doesn't mean that cam manufactuer will work with another make/model.

Buy from a engine builder that has a specific package, it will cost a bit more but you will be getting something that has been tested thoroughly.... you hope. Make sure your engine builder has data to back claims up.

Most of the time when you just throw random things at these motors you can lose power... but it may feel good in a certain area. that's because it's slower everywhere else... so the sweet spot just feels good.

I agree with you a 100% Jessie. My engine builder has tons of flow bench and Dyno time with every motor I have ever had done 2 stroke or 4 stroke. My last 450 Honda with stock bore and stroke pumped out a little over 60hp. HC piston, Crower Cam, Vortex Ignition, 2mm Bigger Valves,VP U4.2, Ported Polished and Flowed head, Full Yosh System, and Carb Work. The Power was really strong and smooth, it was nothing that would rip your arms off.

Interesting.... I spoke with an "expert" rider on the weekend who owns a 2009 KX250F and a 2009 KX450f. He loves both bikes and ride each in different conditions and tracks etc....
He was telling me, for his 09 KX250F, he had the head ported, PC cams and PC vavles with springs installed and he said the bike was a whole different animal and said it was quite a bit faster. I was asking him because I was going to do the exact same thing for my sons 09 KX250F..... he was raving about it.

I dont know...........

The dude is CRAZY fast on both his bikes, so its hard to not take him serious...

Wish there was some dyno charts to look at

I emailed PC a couple weeks ago about the different cam profiles for the 09 KX250 because a seller had them listed for 07-2010 bikes, and since I know the 09/10 are much different than the 08 I asked PC. They said the 09/10 is a completley different cam made for this engine only and for me NOT to use the older version.

I am curious if you used the 09 specific cams, or the older model cams in the 09 engine?

The PC Engine builder that I spoke with says that is a mistake on the PC web site.
He said i need a specific "09 cam" and that is the only cam that should be used in the 09 engine.

ask PC why they have the same part #?...........better yet if smeone goes down there ask to see both cams and see if their the same........this industry is full of BS

not to try to argue with you but now Pro circuits website has even added 2010 to the list for the same camshafts. they are listed as fitting 06-10.

the cams will fit either year, but that doesnt mean they are meant for that year. just like you can buy a set of wheels for a 250, but they will also fit the 450, while the 450 rim is wider.

Full of BS until the old stock has been moved. Then I bet they start selling the '10 model for the older years under the same part number.

Another good reason to follow Jesse's advice and go with a good engine builder who tests their shit and knows what's up.
