Sorry if this has been discussed before but I happened to find this movie last night.

Pretty damn good and Carol Shelby was a real bad-ass as was the driver Ken Miles.

And Ken got fucked out of the win because Ford wanted a pic. Shelby said it was one of the biggest mistakes of his life asking his best friend to slow down for that pic.

Yea that Ford Executive was a real asshole in that movie, what a shame for Ken after he was WFO at the end and broke the track record.

Oh yeah , great film. I've seen it probably at least 5 times. Some stuff is dramatized a bit for the movie , but it does give a good depiction of what really happened back then. Ken Miles is a legend in GT racing. It's a sad story of a guy who was awesome at his job , and his life ended right when things were looking up. The passion Ford and Shelby had to be the best , is almost under rated in the movie. The sacrifices they made to become a winner at Leman's was incredible.

You almost have to put aside what you've read to really enjoy the movie. Don't get me wrong- it is a really great film but it was definitely a Hollywood-ized "based on real events" sort of thing. The real story is even more incredible.

Another book to check out if you're into this sort of thing is "Ford: The Dust and the Glory" by Leo Levine. Volume One goes from the 1901 to 1967 and has most of the GT project history in it.

The real story Gary is far better. There are documentary’s out there. The engines that were chosen, from 289 to the 427 which was outlawed after 2 wins . Last win with Ickes walking to his car . The Shelby flying into grass and killing few kids.  Got to see a 427 winning car run at 30 th Mustang anniversary at Charlotte when bill clinton was getting blowjob driving his tang around track .

check out the story of the Whittington brothers winning lemans in production porchshe , last time a production car won. Fucking epic story

Spent the evening watching it with the wife.
Decent movie for sure. Better than most of the garbage I’ve seen lately.

Yea I believe that.

In my original post I used that exact term "Hollywood-ized" but somehow when I went to post it got deleted when I attached the YouTube so I had to redo it.

But in reality what true life story when they make into a movie is not Hollywood-ized....

But that's OK with me just the fact they made a movie out of it to bring to the masses is a good thing.

If you liked that movie, you'll probably like Rush also. It's on Netflix

My brother just delivered a car to someplace in Southern California.

A 1954 Aston Martin DB4? I think.  Value $2.5Million.

My brother doesn't have a shit load of cash, but he works with guys who do.

He got paid...

I just saw this movie recently as well!
Great story showing the competition between Ford and Shelby as well as Ferrari.
The actress that plays Ken Miles’ wife is a good looking gal! She is in the series ‘Outlander’ that my wife has watched.
