Chad seems like a really great guy. He chatted with me for almost half an hour about the mapping for Hondas, fuel, pipes, et cetera. The woman who answers the phone (I think his wife?) is great too. I keep wanting a vortex for my Honda, but 1k is pretty steep. I will get it from him when I do.

I have a XPR programmed Vortex and in 35 years of riding it is the best bang for the buck modification you can make! I will never own another motorcycle without one on it, they are a game changer for sure!

IMO, Better than a pipe or any other engine mod, for that matter.

I’ve been thinking long and hard about going the Vortex route on my 350 and have been waffling pretty hard on who to go with as there seems to be a number of quality options…but this might have been the swaying I needed.

It’s not even a question for my bikes- they all get a Vortex first thing.

the Vortex offers several maps from XPR to choose from, from aggressive top end to strong low end. 

these ECU’s  don’t make the bike any faster, but they allow the rider to move the power around to suit track conditions, level of expertise on the bike and riding style. 
 

they really are magic boxes - and well worth the cost IMO.

What does a Vortex tuned by XPR cost?

Around 1g with tunes is what I just paid for mine from XPR. Hasn’t shipped yet but looking forward to trying it out.

Thank you for your feedback, I genuinely appreciate it! Your experience seems to mirror the vast majority of what I’ve read…that they are pretty damn awesome with the only drawback being cost.

I am definitely not aiming to make the bike faster…on a good day I can hardly match a quarter of it’s potential in stock form there, it’s actually the opposite. I’ve made a pretty big shift recently and ride almost all mountain single-track/tight trails/similar off-road stuff and I’d like to smooth out the bottom end, help with some low speed cut-outs, and have something to help account for some of the high altitude (up to 13K feet) riding my friends and I do. Having a few more map options would definitely be cool.

I’ve always had to poorboy it a little and have only really replaced service/wear items on all my previous bikes, and this is already the newest/most expensive bike I’ve purchased, so while I understand in the grand scheme of things it seems well worth the dough I still find myself hesitating to pull the trigger…having told my wife that I wouldn’t have to do anything at all to this bike due to style/condition at purchase makes that justification even a little tougher if I don’t want to start sleeping outside. 
 

Let me know if I am at all off-base in my understanding of the capabilities, I’d rather find out I’m dumb this way than after spending a grand. And I know I should just get better, but I think that ship might have sailed. 

I had the best experience with XPR.  Chad ported my CRF 250R's head, and I run XPR's vortex mapping, piston, CAM, valve springs etc and my bike barks.  Leah at XPR is the best too!  I highly reccomend XPR!

My guess is that, as Chad charges 300 to remap, and he sells a new unit for 1050 with mapping, people are not willing to go through the hassle to save 50 bucks.

I'm in the same boat as you, one of these days I will just bite the bullet and get a exhaust  and ecu for my CRF, I've heard great things. 

Yeah I'm not worried about it. I just threw it up at a discount from retail and I'll take less if less is all it's worth to people. Doesn't hurt me.

Just cause you live in Chicago doesn’t mean you can’t ride, you just have to try harder if you want to ride. There’s multiple sand tracks open in the state that are not frozen that can be rode. I’ve been riding since January on them. The conditions are perfect.

Lol I figured as much, I can’t blame you there! If you are bored there is a race at one of those sand tracks this afternoon. But that’s a trek for you (3 hours both ways!). I didn’t catch what bike your XPR Vortex is going on, but you are going to be blown away with it, I know I was on mine! 

So has anyone on here got their vortex remapped by XPR and can provide some before and after review?

Just order a Vortex with the custom XPR Maps for one of my bikes, the cost was $1049, Super! nice people to deal with.  I guess they use to offer the Vortex for around $700 and Maps ($300) separately, but now it's just the Vortex with the maps already installed in one package.  I'll find out soon if there's any merit to all the Hoopalah! about their maps, but everything I heard is positive and looking forward to giving it a Rip after install,  Leah was really nice to deal with.  Going on this below

Just wanted to second your comments about XPR Motorsports, Chad and Leah were such a pleasure to deal with. The starting procedure and switching of maps of the XPR Vortex was a little confusing to me, but Chad called and walked me through it and now I couldn't be happier.  The great thing about these maps is it's like having 10 different motors in the same bike, power map if you want some arm wrenching fun at the MX track or purr like a kitten map for nice and smooth in the trails.  It's a bit of a spendy modification up front, but once you've got it, you can't imagine the bike without it.   I have a 2023 Honda CRF450RWE and it has a great motor, but in the power map my 350XCF almost seems to pull harder than my Honda, maybe just my imagination, but it sure is impressive. 

Had my 22 YZ450 Vortex done with the Keefer tunes by XPR.  Bike now is smooth and predictable.  Seems to have longer legs in the gears on the top end.  Super smooth low end.  Went with the T4 fuel option tunes.  I worked with Leah mostly during the process and she is fantastic with the whole ordering and answering questions.  Recommended!

Rode with mine for my 22 FC350 this weekend. Made a world of difference, smooth power delivery and got great starts this weekend. The communication from the company was second to none. Look forward to dealing with them again. 

Did you end up going with the XPR maps on your vortex ? I also live at high elevation and ride single track as high as 13k. Just looking for feedback before I make a choice between XPR or TD. Also if you did use XPR was there any other adjustments that needed to be made.. I.E tps or idle?

Keefer turned me (and all of us) on to Chad for my '17 FC350.  Absolute game changer and best mod I have invested in bike wise.  Woke the bike up big time and even helped the suspension.  Great customer service & I will definitely get one for my next bike.
