I'd give it a try to see how much it differs having only two wheels.

I guess that would work ok? Wonder how heavy it is. Neat concept. I remember that those things had a distinct sound compared to the other 4 wheelers. You always knew when one was on the track and hoped your race was not next.

I work on Banshees quite often, folks love them out here in AZ. That thing has to be an handful, most Banshees that I have ever rode had power like a light switch. The sound of a bored, stroked 350 twin is one of the best 2 stroke sounds ever.

Considering it has less stock horsepower than a YZ250, I'm guessing it not be the tire shredder you might think. More weight plus less hp does not an arm stretcher make. Heavily breathed on on the other hand.......

Less HP than a YZ250? Thats interesting. From the comment above yours, it doesn't seem to be usable power either. Would it put out more HP with some slight mods? 350 vs 250, you'd think the 350 would be a beast.

Cool! But I bet the 125cc pipes aint that optimal.

I've always liked this Pro Fab framed Yamaha 125 twin. Would love to ride it!

Not sure why anyone would think they have a light switch powerband because like the RZ350 the Yamaha borrowed the engine from, the stock Banshee should have a very linear powerband. Stock compression is only 6.5: 1 with 24mm carbs so there is huge room for improvement. 60 -70 hp is possible with enough cubic dollars! lol

I think a lot of the fallacy about the powerband is because the hp vs weight (close to 400lbs) makes it necessary to keep it screaming to keep it on the pipe.

I would ride it, but, as a long time owner and rider of a Banshee, that bike would be a major handful. A stock Banshee has around 37hp. At 4,000rpm, the engine is making 10hp, at 6,000rpm, 37hp. A hard hitting engine, requires a lot of clutch control to get the power to the ground. Since that bike has at the minimum pipes and air filters, the hp is going to be 40+. Definitely would be a major rush to ride, though!

a decent piped banshee motor puts down around 50hp to the back tires of a quad. they have a powerband similar to a 125 dirtbike except more power! guaranteed that bike would be a beast if those pipes work ok. Most likely tho they are leaving some power to be had. But still the sound of them are just awesome. there is nothing like them.

Have you ever rode a Banshee or just tossing out opinion? My costumers 86+hp Stroked/bored/ported stretched banshee is lightswitch power, Even stock Banshees hit pretty hard. Drag Banshees are pretty popular around these parts and apples to oranges, comparing them to YZ 250 power is retarded

Ridden a Banshee?

Might as well be a toggle switch on the throttle

I remember seeing that thing on the cover of MXA when I was a kid. I always wondered how well it turned?

The RZ350 has powervalves that the Banshee does not. A stock Banshee is nothing even CLOSE to linear. I've owned two of them, and they're quite a handful. I wouldn't be too interested in riding a Banshee-powered dirtbike. A CR500 is a much easier to ride and more powerful engine.

Terry the RZ350 had ypvs, the banshee motors did not. Most likely that is a stroked and bored version displacing around 500 cc. It would absolutely suck at motocross. It would weigh less than the banshee set up that the motor would usually be hauling around though. Shoot yeah I'd ride it. Oh and a CR500 engine is not more powerful when both are modified. It would be easier to ride though.

Someone made a turbo and fuel injection kit for a stock banshee motor years back. Basically gave it 130hp and it was almost emission free.

It would certainly sound nice. Nothing has ever sounded as cool as a Yamaha Banshee imo.

Non-powervalve engine. It's a light switch.

We just built a 7 mil stroker for a customer that dynoed at 114 HP at the rear wheels. We regularly work on Full Drag banshees over 140 HP,  there is no comparison to a YZ 250. They have a ton of untapped HP especially with all the parts available for them. With that being said, that better be a drag or hill climb bike or someones getting hurt.lol
