I thought Kevin Windham had a deal with Honda for another year. I did hear this same rumor, but didn't give it much credit until now. Man, Kevin Windham on the same team as James Stewart, that would be a good team.

I thought Josh Hill had already signed with L&M for 2010?

I'm torn here. I can't decide who would make a better team?

James Stewart and Kevin Windham?

OR

James Stewart and Josh Hill?
Hmm, if I was Larry and the L&M squad that would be a hard choice...

Kdub is a vet rider with good experience and probably good at bike setup which might help James, but lets face it he has been off the pace lately.

Josh Hill has had a hard time finishing a season and if he was needed to do a team orders type deal or get a result late in the season he might not even be racing.

On the other hand if IT9 was JS1 teammate then maybe JS1 wouldn't ruin his seaon by landing on him at the 1st race of the season.

All I can say is I am glad I am not Larry Brooks.

I guess that is why he makes the big bucks!!!!!!!

I heard all year that none of the Red riders felt good on the 09's. Davi, Ivan and Windham werent shy about it. I think Short held the company line though. Which is why alot of the guys riding on their own dime rode 08's.
Two things:

1) All you had to do was listen to the 09 Hondas popping and farting to realize the EFI set up was far from perfect.

McGrath at the X Games was another example.

EFI is not the savior it is cracked up to be but there are fixes out there.

Even in the car world there are many not pleased with the on/off throttle response...there are forums out there for G35 and G37 owners where they complain big time.

2) L&M has two riders in mind and there is a non talent factor at work that will determine which rider get picked.

I am not sure if Yamaha would allow him back after he broke his contract back around 98 to go to Honda.... I know L&M are not factory Yamaha but I am sure they could influence the decision somehow.

Im with you on this... I would quit wasting time and money on Josh Hill even if he is young. He rolls with the Jlaw crew whether people like it or not, and whether he can hide it or not.

Wonder what kinda salary money was/is involved in this deal...?

I remember James saying something like 50k for the second rider, for the 2010 season.

One would assume they would have had to come up with quite a bit more then that to get Kevin to agree.

Matthes said that during the podcast with James. I don't think he was talking about L&M though.

L and M would benefit from another rider that is very knowledgeable in the set up an all new scoot. Brand new bikes are like starting from scratch and that can be a tough thing to deal with such short time frames.

Who is a better fit for L&M Team?

KW: He has already had a long and storied career and now has 4 children. How much are you really going to get out of him?? He has very little upside and at best he is on the team for one year. You already have the #1 guy and KW is not going to leave it all on the track. The amount of effort out of him will be minimal and his biggest incentive for riding next year is his MSR money. Team orders, that would never happen with KW. He has been around so long that he will never play second fiddle.

JH: Here is a kid that got side tracked and lost his way. He is a highly talented rider and now he only has one thing to do which is leave it all on the track. To me, given the opportunity on the L&M Team he would shine. I heard he stayed at JS's house in FL this year which means they must be friends. You need good teamates and one that is fast. I think JH would do whatever was aksed of him by the team to prove his worth. He is young and could play a great roll in the team for many years to come. JH has nothing to loose and everything to gain, and I think he is going to put in one of the best seasons ever if given the opp on L&M.

I saw him ride over here one time a couple of years back when it was raining in CA and he was a cool kid that was normal to talk to. I hope he gets the chance. It would be bad to see a career end before it ever started.

But then again this is Motocross, so who knows what will happen. How many more weeks to A1??

Nothing wrong with JH other than he wouldn't be much help in bike set up which is going to be key in keeping JS off of the ground in 2010.

So tell Tim Ferry your KW opinion and see what he thinks about it.

Josh Hill had his chance to prove himself at Factory Yamaha and let it go. What makes you think he would step up for LB?

Tim would be a great addition to L&M. One of the best bike set up guys in the business.

The Factory YZF450 was at best the3rd best Yamaha on the track. The L&M and JGR bikes were well ahead of the Factory machine. Did you happen to go to a race this year and listen to it compared to the others. It should have sounded the same as the L&M bike but it didnt. The team is what makes the bike advanced. Not the rider. The rider just gives input for his personal setup. The team engineers are the ones that make the development happen.

Look what Larry did for KTM. He left and they went into the toilet. He brought them up, then left with his good staff and KTM fell apart. Its the staff not the riders that develop bikes.

Who cares what the motor sounds like. It's the suspension set up that is the most important thing when it comes to racing at this level. Stewart has never been very good at setting up his bike and last year they had settings from the previous year to help them find something that could work for James. This is an all new bike and it's going to take some R and D to get the thing working at it's very best.

Stewart crosses the line every time he throws a leg over the bike and if it's not set up properly it's much more likely to spit him off on his head. What L and M doesn't want to do is play catch up all year like they did last year.

You are right Einstein. What a bike sounds like is the most important thing when it comes to getting around a Supercross track.

The biggest thing that matters in the 450 class when it comes to the motor in supercross is making sure that the bike runs cleanly and the power is tractable.

Suspension set up is king when it come to the big bore class in Supercross.

Ferry has NO UPSIDE!!!!! Stewart has 2 SX titles and was robbed of a 3rd by the AMA and did he not go 24-0 outdoors!!! Truth be told Stewart does not need a setup guy. There is not one rider out there can rides close to Stewarts speed and with his body postion on the bike. How and the hell can a guy that is half the speed of Stewart help him with a bike setup????
