Just something I’ve wondered, while racing every weekend (mostly) in the evenings, do riders train at that time or during the day? I am just an average joe, so take this as you will, but I’ve done a couple of later races and practice days and I just don’t feel the same as I do in the morning/ early day. I don’t understand how they could train in the day but when it comes to race time it’s all done later on.
Honda used to rent lights and bring them to their test track to replica a night show.
I think I remember Bubba having lights at his track down in Florida to replicate the same situation you would think they all would!
I made Dylan & Marvin train (not ride) @ 9-9:30pm a month prior to A1 and West coast rounds...
I used to do it and thought it didn't hurt... Light dinner @ 6:30pm. Go for a 45min run or do intervals @ 9pm. Shower. Quick moto with the SO and off to sleep...
Remember, Wake Up Moto, Eat Moto, Sleep Moto etc...
It's a good and valid question. You want your body to be ready for the night show but still hard to simulate.

Yeah I had also wondered if the riders adjust their sleep patterns during the SX season to be performing well late at night..
David, will a rider be taking caffeine supplements an hour or so before the main event?
If so, they must have a shitty nights sleep on a saturday night. I cant consume caffeine after 3pm if I want a sound nights sleep.
Good info, I assumed they must adjust their program in some way to account for the fact by around 9pm they need to be on their ultimate A game. You’ve got to be in that routine to have the concentration levels these guys have in the evening. Good info DV thanks 👍🏼
Quick moto with the SO, maybe do a little mud riding
I remember Blake Baggett one year set all of his clocks in Florida, to match the time zone in California so his body would be in sync with the time difference for those first few rounds.
Ya that caffeine is hard-core shit
That must suck I’ve heard people with the same problem. I can drink a cup of Joe right before bed no prob. The only issues I have are in the AM I’m a little impatient with clients on the phone after I’ve had my morning cup
