Yeah, that sounds like a good idea to be sure. Still not pumped to have to do it that way but I suppose there’s little choice

Using a small strong vacuum cleaner helps a ton!

How do you do with your air box when you’re washing your bike ? Cause I’ve been looking for an airbox cover for awhile and I didn’t find one yet .

The primary issue with the air filter design is the fact that its not easy to get in or out. The jostling required to get a dirty filter out leads to debris making its way on to the throttle body. It’s happened to me just about very time I’ve replaced the filter, no matter how dirty is was. The reason why this wasn’t as much an issue with the last gen was due to the fact that the filter lifted off the screen very easily. It never required any effort and it was very easy to get it out of the bike without consequence

Hoping that someone comes up with a solid solution because this will be a source of headaches for this new bike otherwise.

I agree. It's pretty much a must-do on the 250F (or prior-gen 450) if you run an aftermarket intake (that removes the screen.) So I would likely do it on the '23 450 too, if I were to buy one. Sucks that it's an extra step but it ends up being worth your time to just get into the habit, in my opinion.

She’s coming along! Anyone have any insight on clutch covers? Hinson or GYTR?

No problem, I originally ordered it first of January. Called last week just for a update and they said April so I was happy to see it shipped

Wonder if it's already out of stock, I can't seem to locate it on dominuscorp.com.

Called them today to check on my cover, and they said it shipped yesterday along with a ton of others that were on backorder.

You have to search the part number. It doesn’t show up for some reason under the bike. AD15C596-F3FC-4910-AB96-BE5AA2C4BE20

Keefer posted that Hinson has clutch plates now. They are not in site but you can call them. Lets hope they will come to Europe someday also.

That sure seems like an unnecessary shit design to me . That being said I might still get one .

Guys have been doing that since the 2014s came out. I never had a problem with leaving my bike on the stand and doing filters, but I changed/cleaned them almost every ride. Agree it shouldn’t be that way, but we are 10 years deep with guys doing it now.

I’ve had multiple of each generation since the reverse engine was released. Never had to lay my bike down to change a filter until now.

My forks were Abt 40cc low on oil. First time I went into some decent size high speed braking bumps had some death defying head shake and that was with the forks at 4mm and 105 sag. Stock is supposed to be 270cc and my bike only had 230cc.

Been fixing those by warming it and pushing inside out with blunt tool.

Good advice. If possible, apply pressure with pliers or whatever you're using to try to reshape it as you heat it.

Picked mine up Friday.  Been riding Yamahas for over 45 years.  Ive owned 1998, 2003, 2007, 2009, 2014, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 450s.

For all these bikes one thing stood true, every time I read a magazine review of the bike and then rode it, I always wondered if they were riding the same bike as almost none of them did for me personally what the magazines said.

But for 2023, I agree with everything they have said about it.

I was actually worried to go buy one cause i Loved my 2021 and the characteristics they said they changed, I actually liked.  I loved the width, loved the turn in, loved the stock suspension, loved just about everything of those bikes.

But I was put to ease after I rode the 23.  Bike is incredible.  You can tell the wight difference immediately. Much slimmer then previous models but not "too" slim.  Power is simply incredible and by far the best out of any bike Ive ever ridden.

So if you are interested in one, rest assured that if you are used to Yamahas you will love this bike.

Now for the bad.  The front end is very twitchy and is not planted like previous models.  Numerous times I felt the front end washing out on me which I never felt on the old bikes.  Head shake was not an issue though.  Gonna wait till the suspension has more break in on it and see if I cant address that issue.   The brakes were/are very weak.  Gonna put on some steel braided lines (that I have always ran so that really might be the issue) and bleed in some good quality oil in to see if that helps.

And thats pretty much it.   Highly recommended
