The Master’s Motoplex
1465 SC-6
Gaston, SC
It was previously named GTR and was mostly a sand track.
Now the new owners built a supercross/arenacross clay track and a full national style track that's going to be pretty big. I'm excited because it's only 30 minutes from me
Looks fun and safe
Is that the track that was out by Swansea that had the big sand track, small clay track, some trails and a flat track? That was a fun place.

Ridden at GTR a bunch. Great dirt, lots of opportunity. Hope the new place works out for when I get to go out East!
Looks like that track has been flattened
Don’t be so sure, the rollers in the middle of the old track showed up in the video for a split second.
Rode there a couple times when it was GTR, really fun sand track. Not really relevant, but I remember mentioning ClubMX when I was signing in one of the times and the person taking my practice fee didn’t seem too fond of them and their facility, lol.
Probably not fond of having to compete with club. That place is hard to beat.
Surprised to hear that, Club is about 2hr from this track. And this track is much closer to Columbia (vs Club being sorta close to Charlotte).
Yeah I thought it was a little weird too given the distance between them, dude was probably just playing up how upset he was to fuck with me. This was maybe three or four years ago. The whole facility was great though, I’d probably go more often if they were a little closer to where I’m at in Charlotte.
The Ridge (formerly Devil’s Ridge) is officially reopening the same weekend, too. The moto scene around Charlotte is looking pretty good these days; off the top of my head, we have Windy Hill, Dreamville, Black Ankle, 421MX, Top Gun, The Ridge, Silver Valley, East Bend, ClubMX (hosting several practice weekends) and now The Master’s, all within a two hour drive. Pretty sweet.
To be honest April 1st probably not the best opening day with a GNCC going on in SC about an hour from them taking away a lot of the riders.
You’re right, it’s probably not ideal. Maybe they’re more focused on the moto side of the facility, that track looks like they’ve put some effort into it.
Anyone know how the "trails" were before when it was GTR I imagine they are pretty much the same. Be sweet if they had a nice woods loop to do some woods racing practice as well. Need to get more into moto seems like its getting to be a good option being so close to all these good tracks, hell Top Gun is 5 minutes from my house but really only do races and some wednesday night practice which is pretty sweet.
Better than the Cincinnati area where we have 1 track within an hour. Wish I could talk my wife into moving to a more moto-friendly area.
Don't forget Cedar Grove in Winnsboro SC just south of Charlotte on 77. It opened last fall.
Hadn’t heard of it, looked it up and pulled up your track review on YouTube, looks fun!
Pit Row
Thats an hour from me and I hadn’t heard of it either
It's a good vet/beginner track. Fairly tight and low speed, one big table (90ish) but no huge hits or gap doubles. Donnie Adams built it for him. The guy who owns the place is a nice dude too!
I'm excited to check out The Masters, hopefully next Sunday. I never liked the old sand track there, that sand was sort of strange, like it was way powdery when dry but also super slick when it was wet. I rode it a bunch because it's close to me, but I could never get comfortable on it. The new track is in an entirely new area on the property and they said it is more of a clay base.
"Membership" fee
Stop it.
Don't forget the parking fee, water fee and miscellaneous fees.
Is anyone going to check this place out this weekend? I curious about how it is.
Me and a few buddies are taking the toyhauler Friday afternoon, I’ll let you know
Did anybody go to the opening and how was it?
Yeah, we went. If you have ever been before you wouldn’t recognize it. The new track is national level imo, I can’t imagine the money they spent and not try to get a big race of some kind. The old sand track is flat now and they cleared that much more land off and planted grass. The new track is off to the left as you come in with plenty of elevation change.
Sounds like I need to make a trip and check it out.
Didn't get to go, but have seen videos. The National track is huge.
They have quite a few days they're open for April so I'm sure I'll get to check it out soon
Oh boy fellas, I went there Sunday and it is incredible! It has elevation changes, good soil composition and some variety, and just the scale of the thing is very national-ish. My laps were around 2:40, it took a few sessions to really even start finding good lines.
This moto was from the end of the day, it was baked by then. We had a mid-day rain shower Saturday and I think that probably threw off their prep plans, but they have the equipment and I know they will get that dialed.
They also redid the clay track to what I'm told is a replica of the Mini O's SX track.
The new big track is a drastic improvement from the track that was there before (which is now graded flat and turned into pit area- good riddance as far as I'm concerned). I know there are politics involved, but as far as the track itself I could absolutely see qualifiers/regionals/etc there now.
My last moto of the day.... I need to sack up and hit that third big table next time, but I'm not even going to think about that step up in the middle!
