Why then didn't he race the nationals?

http://www.racerxonline.com/article/monday-conversation-james-stewart-u…

You made a comment in the press conference on Thursday that it’s “only” $100,000 now, because it used to be 250k...
I was just joking around. I would come here and race for free. When I’m out there racing, the 100 grand doesn’t come into my mind at all. All I cared about was getting Ryan and riding my best, and I was able to do that. It always hits you at the end that, “Damn, I won 100 grand tonight!” but when I’m out there racing, I’m doing it because I love motorcycle racing, and I race for pride. It’s always nice to get some money when your neck is on the line, and it was awesome.

Bubba earned in a weekend what I make in 3 years.

And he deserves every penny of it. If not, more.

I wish we could find a way in this sport that the local pro's could make some

dough, too.

And I've always believed that even seventeenth (17th) place at a National ought

to pay a couple grand....

There's a big difference between not being concerned about the payout, as he is stating here, and having to finance the racing himself, as he would've had to do to race the Nationals, as his team wasn't going to do them.

Time to get over it guys. Stewart signed a SX only deal, end of story.

I liked this part better>>> "When he hit me, I kind of laughed, like, “Dude! What’s going on?!” But it’s always fun, and I think maybe he’s been hanging out with “such and such” and that’s what they do"

I agree Rupert. It's amazing how much the venue, promoters, and tv makes off these guys and what they pay out. Without the 17th place rider/privateers there would be 10 guys on the line. They got to at some point start taking care of those guys or there won't be any of those guys left. At least pay them enough to make it to the next round.

Yep, but I don't think that's what Ryan had in mind when trying to pass.

I don't know, James hit Reardon because Dan "cut down". When Ryan hit James in the same spot it was because he maybe he was hanging with "such and such".

Hell, I could be missing the joke. And for sure, when you ride at James' level you certainly can distinguish between passing a rider who does something unpredictable (I.E. "cutting down"), and being hit by a rider that's trying to pass when you're James, not cutting down, but still is getting hit. I don't know. Could be Ryan did it on purpose, Don't know, don't think so.

Bottom line is, there isn't a single rider out there who doesn't want to be able to do what James does. There's not a single rider out there who doesn't want to beat him. I don't think all of them want to do it dirty. I think Ryan is probably the only one who could step up to the challenge at the open, and I'm sure he had to take the chance.... probably with no malice. He's young and extremely talented, and he also has decided to make his living on the race track. Maybe he would "die trying to win" too...

James is my favorite rider, but I don't think this was about Ryan being on the same team as Chad. But hell, I'm just a fan like most of us. What the hell do I know? Smile

When James hits Reardon it's an accident..When RV hits him in the same corner for the same reason it's because RV's been hanging out with such and such.. It's comical he calls Reedy such and such,,

Racing the nationals with zero support from a team as a single rider is no joke, no matter how much money you have. Getting a competitive bike when he's use to a factory Yamaha is maybe the easy part, but the logistics of setting up ways to get from one national to another when the season pretty much rattles off week after week is NOT easy. The expense is immense.

I like James a lot. However, every single interview he is in, he will back peddle on himself more times than BobbyM hits the sauce. I'm just sayin. The kids interview skills are, ummm, "always trying to say the right thing for the fans-ish"

Wasn't the Malachi crunch from Happy Days when they were having a demolition derby and "the Fonz" got hurt? I believe there were two brothers named Malachi and they would sandwich someone during the competition and take them out. I can't believe I remember that!!

What an asshole. Trying to say RV is trying to take him out. I hope Chad flattens him every chance he gets this year.
