I'll tell you Monday, Have a KTM450 for the weekend.

Being rather old, I have only owned two strokes (apart from an XR500 in '82)
Ok, the 4T was fast, handled well and easy to ride. It was loud and the 4 stroke knock was annoying and sounded expensive.

It just wasn't as much fun and as nimble and did not suit my style of riding (on the clutch).

250 2 stroke for me.

Rode my YZ250 today, and had an absolute blast. I can barely type right now, but it was worth it.

Different strokes for different folks.... literally.

I read that Friday night and it's spot on. There is no doubt that cc for cc, the two stroke is a better engine.

Thank god, in this sport, at the regular joe level, it doesn't make a bit of difference what you ride. Never has. However, I will concede that the new 4 stroke 450's will make a half assed rider out of a complete and total goon. But that doesn't stop amother rider in his class from blowing by him on a 10 yr old 2 stroke.

I love all the garage queen 450's out there that get schooled by clapped out 2 strokes and 4 strokes, even. That is what is so great about MX.

If any of you the chance to ride the newer ktm 250 I think you'll be shocked at the rideability of the motor. Very 4 stroke like in it's delivery. My brother just picked one up after riding my kx250 and getting tired of the repair bills on his 4-strokes. He was planning on keeping the 450 to race on now and then but after 2 days on the smoker I think the 450 is on the way out for a 150. I really think people forget how good the 2 strokes can be.

If there are any more pro-am privateers out there, would really like to hear your views on the matter! Maybe DC has his ears open too! (wishful thinking)
