so the moto "Media" can't ask relevant questions of the riders because...."we said so"...and instead of protesting this in any way they won't even report on the fact that Feld is dictating what questions can even be asked. EVEN WORSE, it's naturally assumed that this embargo was simply cause HRC asked for it....and the moto "media" yawns and just says "aw shucks" and then we only know about it cause matthes makes a comment about it in passing.

Amazing times we live in with our sport. Can you imagine if ESPN said "Well, we'd like to tell you more details about the fistfight that broke out on the 3rd Tee at the PGA even yesterday, but the PGA told us we're not allowed to talk about it....so....moving on...."?

I think whoever requested it not be brought up feels it's a non issue, because it is.  It was just a pass and maybe they don't want to discuss it because it is being made into far more than it was.  Thrasher said he was fine with the pass and Hunter answered the questions in Daytona.  It doesn't have to be a conspiracy to "quiet the media".

that's not how "media" works. If they feel it's a non-issue, then that's the answer they give when/if asked. If they add nothing, then media has nothing to report. Telling them ahead of time what's "off limits" is the very definition of "silencing the media".

I didn’t make anything up?

I know most journalists protect their sources, but would like to know the "Horses" name that stated this. Would you happen to have this?  Could you share this with the thread?

i understand your point but disagree. There are COUNTLESS stories in our sport that are not reported because 1. the factories simply tell the media "You better not ask about that" and 2. media knows that if they do, they'll get locked out from access.

Rinse/repeat. In the end, it's not MEDIA at all - it's finely cultivated PR from the manufacturers. There's so much depth to our sport and its stars, and so many stories that the consumers would LOVE to read about, but issues like Feld saying "Don't ask people about XYZ topic" does nothing to help our sport. This sport is pathetic at times.  I’m becoming less of a hunter fan every day. Unfortunately he will always live in his brothers shadow. They need to realize you can’t have selective fame. Also the media should tell them to screw off

I don't disagree with that.  Even ML is dancing around it here and on one of his reviews said he wasn't allowed in one of the trucks currently for whatever reason.  I can't remember what team, but that seemed strange.

ML512, I realize it is BS to ask you not to ask a question.  But I assume you also have to consider your relationship with riders, teams, agents, feld etc.  Is that right or do journalists not care?  It is not the NFL, I assume you are living in a relatively small world for content and opportunities.

I'm surprised one of the more secure journalists didn't speak up and refuse to cover the event under those terms. I'm also surprised Feld would compromise their principles and potentially damage media relationships over such a relatively small issue. Feld and/or Mirtl had to know their actions would just put a bigger spotlight on the subject they are trying to hush.

"secure journalists" - which ones are those (rhetorical)?

I've been saying what you said for years - if the media flipped the bird to the factories that stonewalled them about certain topics, then the factories lose their mouthpieces. But it would take a collective media effort, which I doubt would happen.

And you're also right about this just being a stupid move all the way around. By telling the media to not talk about it...guess what we're talking about?

HEP is the truck I'm not allowed inside their pit area any further. Due to commenting on their recent suspension tech hire and Kenny switching back off FC.

Firepower Honda is also a grey area. I ran a photo of some parts in Pit Bits that caused a sponsor issue.

What if Thrasher gets his payback and further wrecks his knee? Is that a win? How stupid is that? Do you morons want to see anybody hurt and out? Why? If I'm Star I'm telling my riders, don't make that a goal. Thrasher would gain way more cred by beating Hunter and Jett in an E/W shoot out than just taking a cheap shot just because.

I'll say it again, I can tell how many people neve did a gate drop. Shit happens, get over it.

This is ridiculous. Was it a photo you were asked not to run?  As far as HEP, Why would a team get that upset unless you were being obnoxious or talking shit which I am sure you were not.

By secure I mean secure enough with their employer that they won't get fired for standing up for their journalistic integrity.

I don't think any "factory" had anything to do with this particular issue.

What if Kenny gets an electric start? Or even an electric BIKE?

Oh, that doesn't make sense in this thread? Yeah, neither does what you said.

Hunter can win with a flat tire right now. He won't be a 3-5 guy in 250s

He said from a "rider's camp" not rider's team. I didn't interpret that as HRC or Star but I could be wrong.

Plenty of us have taken gate drops and still want to see some payback.    Nobody wants to see anyone hurt.    Sometimes, a rider needs a "tune up".   ...and Hunter is ripe for one.

Get over it.

Weird, I don’t see anything in the post that should result in a team banning you from their truck.

And as I’m typing this, listening to last night’s Pulp, Steve mentions Larry telling him that Kenny found a setting with Matt that he liked, so what’s the issue?

In any case, you seem to catch the most shit as a press guy with your Pit Bits segment, but in each case it’s the teams that come across as the assholes for making a big deal about you noting things that are out in the open to be observed by anyone. Thanks for maintaining your journalistic integrity regardless of how the teams feel about your work.

My uneducated guess is Jett and Hunter's agent, Lucas Mirtl, was the one that influenced Feld to shut down that topic with the media. The donut co-promotion must be going well.
