Team manager Patrick Heydens explained: "80% of our sales are two-strokes so this is clearly what the customer wants. The bikes are easier to work on, and fun to ride. The factory are just waiting for the confirmation of the new European series later this month and we have four very good young riders in Italy who are ready to compete. We have a new 125 two-stroke, also with fuel injection like the 250F and 450F, which will be on the market in February. And the fuel savings on a two-stroke should be even more than on a four-stroke !"

Wow, that's even slightly higher than what my poll shows. Nice to see confirmation.

That is good to see hopefully others will follow. Also really like the idea of the 125 two stroke class in Europe next year, we need that here DC

If this bike is a reality. I will buy one in 2011.

TM builds a quality motor too. Friend of mine races 125cc shifter carts and won't use anything but TM motors.

KTM is also working on the fuel injection. It will be interesting to see if the big 4 may fall. I've said it before, and we've seen it in the real world. When people, places or companies think they are invincible, they find out they are not. What if the next big 4 was husky, TM, KTM, and some Chinese company. You never know. Just sayin. What we thought yesterday is not what is reality today. I have an 06 CR125 waiting for a 144 kit, but as my avatar shows, I'm scrapping that maybe for a 2010 KTM 150.

Get the jetting right and you won't go far wrong with the KTM.

Some people here are getting a bit carried away with this snippet of half-truth. Trust me.

Well, the real thing I wanted is the linkage, and that is said to be on the 2011 model, probably the fuel injection as well. They are saying it will be as clean as the 4 strokes. So interesting future. Is the big 4 the next dying dino's??? Anyone ever think that the old companies would die? They are basically gone. Didn't they die off for the same reason. They stuck with 4 strokes while the big 4 brought over 2 strokes and kicked butt? I don't know the history of the old motocross bikes??

2 strokes are far from dead. They are still very popular in many countries around the world. Keep in mind, the USA is the best market in the world for high margin products. Thats why they did what they did to the 2- stroke market here. The same marketing strategy does not work in every country.

Another quick example. Alpinestars. They own the boot market here in the USA because they have successfully branded themselves as a high end boot maker. So we only get top of the line products and we think they are the Mercedes of boots.

If they brought over all their other gear, like they do in other countries, we would just look at them like they are just another gear supplier (like Thor and Fox) and would not think their boots are so special. They would lose market share on their highest margin products.

So 2 strokes are still alive, and companies like KTM see a future for them and are investing in them right now. Look for future improvements frm KTM in 65cc and 85cc bikes as well. Who else is doing that? Thats market is not going away and the 150 4 stroke will not take it over, just too dang expensive for kids to tear up.

DC should get rid of the womens races and add the 125cc two stroke class for 15-17 year olds since they wont allow riders to start racing the 250 class until they turn 18 starting 2011. Maybe make it a regional series like in SX.... just an idea that might be crazy enough to work

I think thats a great idea, would love to see that during intermission at the SX. Way better than Kenny Bartran and his clowns.

I second that, except the part about Kenny Bartram. Just because they don't race MX/SX doesn't make them clowns.

Says the guy who obviously doesn't posess the skills necessary to ride a real dirt bike. We understand that but most of us here are having a hard time figuring out why you seem to appear so threatened by a simpler , lighter, more effecient , more powerful and less expensive motocrosser.

I find my YZ250F completely boring to ride. But I have too much invested in it to get rid of it! Go figure. I've never been much of a fan of a 250 2 stroke or larger bike whether 2 or 4 stroke but the 125 is my favorite. I think that class needs to come back and needs to come back soon. It had always been a class for the up and coming stars and now they are going from 85's straight to 250's. Just doesn't make sense to me. I think DC should make that priority number one especially since the age is going to 18. Sure do need somewhere for those kids to go instead of overseas. Or worse, just fall through the cracks.

1982. EFI 2 strokes by Fuji with simple 50 MM throttle bodies and a EFI box about twice the size of a CDI box, a few simple sensors, and it was foolproof.

1985, Suzuki bought the technology and had OEM.

Motocross is so far behind the times in technology it's ridiculous.

That and it's a known fact a EFI, DFI or Cleanfire Injection 2 stroke burns cleaner than a comparable HP 4 stroke with less weight, less parts, and you guessed it, far less cost.

Not too long ago, Smith-Corona was the largest typewriter company in the world($500M annually). They made a decision to "invest" in moving production to Mexico and let their "computer machine" project fall by the wayside and terminated their partnership with Acer. Where is Smith-Corona today?

The global market is always changing and even the giants can get plowed under if they don't follow the right trend(s). Just sayin' Smile

You should try a 500 2 stroke. That's my favorite, at first its a little scary but once you get use to it, its great. Turn a little throttle and the front end gently lifts off the ground without effort.
