my lovely neighbors are at it again. taking pictures of me riding, doing drive bye's. i've been dealing with this for 6 years, i guess my 8 acres is not enough. police have never once even warned me since there are no noise ordinances etc. I'm wondering at what point does this become harassment on there part?

me and my buddy just used to push the bikes back in the garage and bust out the bmx bikes when these old bastards would try to film us riding his SX track, it was classic, old as hell, miserable people, they would lug out the tripod every time, set up the big ol 1980's style camera and by the time they pressed record we were peddling away, wish i would have recorded there reactions.

36 years old and I gotta deal with this shit. been riding my whole life so I'm used to the whole "outlaw" mentality. being treated like some "hoodlum" or criminal is getting old and its starting to bring out a side of me i'm sure they do not want to encounter. pretty much ruins my whole effin day! On a side note you should see their half finished 12ft tall rough cut fence they put up w/ 3 inch gaps between the boards! its the legal 8ft off of my line so they also put up a string with ribbon on the real property line and they just added some new posted signs as well.

That sucks .. At my old property I used to deal w/that all the time. It was 10 acres of powerline proper I owned in Covington Wa. and I even got it permitted for riding. I would'nt of bought it for any other reason because you can't build a house on powerline property .What's funny is about the 8th time the cops were called an oficer Stanwick came out. The first thing he said to me is he's heard other oficers get called out to my property and he was always mad because he was never close enough to get the call. I asked why he wanted the call and he said "because he and his 8 yr old ride/race and live down the road and he wanted to meet me and maybe bring his kid out". I said that would be awesome. The first time his son and him came out to ride the cops were called again. He and the oficer that came out walked over to the neighbor that had called and talked to them. To this day I don't know what they told them but they never complained again..

I your neighbour is elderly and has a walking stick i suggest somehow get that stick and if possible once every 2 weekd cut off the bottom 1/4". Start to play games with him. Next time he gets the camera out ride nude with helmets on of course.
Play enough games with him to force down to Florida.

How often and what time do you ride? How loud is your bike? 8 acres isn't a lot of room and it might be worth trying to compromise and try and help them out a little. Or maybe they just want to get pictures of you riding because they like it.

I get it that it's a PITA for you, but I'm not sure I'm understanding it totally.

i run my stock silencer on my YZ250 to keep the noise down. to me what they are doing is a form of harassment, pictures, driving back and forth and calling the police when I am not breaking ANY of the local laws etc. I plan on buying that new FMF quiet silencer, well i should see if they wanna buy it for me!

We have 50+ acres in NY. Western NY. Right next to the New York state thruway. We have been dealing with stuff for about 10 years now. It started off with neighbors going by our home video taping. Then it was the town going by in their personal planes or helicopters to take pictures. Well needless to say we cant ride on our property for 2 years. We had to bulldoze everything flat. Time to move now. Its no longer america!!!

Not trying to pile on here bud but eight acres isn't much land to have a track on if there are houses close to that acreage.

Have you tried talking to them? Maybe you can work something out with them and if you are really nice, at least they will have to picture your face every time they call the cops...

Oh Man thats nuts! I cannot believe they made you do that. What do the people say about all the traffic noise from the Toll road?? God that things gotta be a noisy mofo.
The biggest problem we have here, is getting riders to be polite when riding on someone elses property. Geez they just move in and make a mess, no respect for the guys place. Leave trash lay, now the guys fencing some of it off. We have got some of the best offroad riding in the midwest, and i just could'nt bear to see it gone. However, i still live right down town, 3 blocks from the cop shop, suit up, fire the bike up, ride down the alley, 2 blocks to the old RR right of way, and i'm there!!! (just as soon as I heal up)

We have tried everything. They are not going to stop people by noise ordinances. They will get you by the zoning code. And we were there before all the new rules. Actually the new rules were so they could put us out of commission.

8 acres is all that i could afford at the time. it's usually only me riding or maybe a couple friends. its pretty much country here where I live but i do have neighbors. no noise ordinance and lots of farm fields. its a pretty sweet track though... like i said i've been riding and racing for 25 years and ride anywhere from broome, dilla, southwick, winchester, hemonds, crow hill etc. i like to hit the sweet tracks!

Is it noise or dust that they don't like? I know someone in the same situation, but the dust got him. The bikes could be as loud as they wanted but it was said that he couldnt be dusting out the neighbors.

Zoning issues. Pushing dirt without a permit. It wasn't effecting drainage. Destroying natural vegetation. Mind you that was in a plowed corn field in late November. They had a hard on for us and its a game of they win. You aren't beating city hall. Our closest neighbor is about 3/4 mile away. Town attorney and supervisors didn't like we were standing up for ourselves. It was a personal vendetta. My dad and uncle were both ex pro's my dad even held a national number. Uncle should have as well...

That sucks to hear. We've been lucky, none of our neighbors complain to us about riding on our property.

I am a member of a track in NY called Walden Playboys . The towns always coming up and complaing and trying to get us shut down. This year we had to move are races to sat or we would not be able to ride at all. We own the track and its redicouls .The people in the town are crazy. The thur way runs past the town and at one of the meetings they asked if the thur way could be closed on sundays and divertied around there town. Wtf is wrong with people

Install a dBDawg in your muffler. They are cheap, easily removable and they work.

Well, I have a car wash across the street from me and I can understand what the neighbor probably feels like. I try and ride almost every weekend myself but I drive 30 miles to my club. Occasionally a 4-stroke quad will sit in the car wash revving his motor and it really pisses me off. I don't want my club to be an annoyance like that. In fact I just started a little project on my own where I plan on doing some sound testing at the club to try and figure out how annoying we might be to our neighbors. Hopefully we can identify and rectify any problem before the neighbors would get mad and call the cops. We actually give a free turkey around thanksgiving to each of the neighbors as a sign of our appreciation.

Move to Delaware.
No one complains.

When I was in Jersey, we had a bunch of witchcraft people next door who would call the cops on us for running a pressure washer.
No, I'm not joking.

I live next to some cool neighbors, out track is like 40 feet from their house on the edge of out fenceline, they just ask no riding during the week due to night shift. Then the other closest enighbors is a trailer park and they walk down the highway to watch us ride. I need to get a parking meter set up along the highway so people can donate to the cause while they are sitting in their cars watching. The cops usually shoo them off the side if they seem 'em parked.

Get an E-bike or move out to a more desolate area.
