Honda to a 350 ktm/husky

So I’m switching from a 2021 crf 250r. I felt really comfortable on that bike including handlebars etc. I could turn that really well.
I’m buying a 2024 sxf/fc 350. Currently I have a deposit on the sxf but still thinking on switching to the fc because I really can’t stand orange, yes I could get new plastics and then a graphics kit but wanted to try and avoid that.
I’m looking to see what people are saying as I’m worried about the lower handle bar bend, and lowered suspension restricting me in the corners on the Husky, as I ride mostly sand tracks, so leaned over more and I’m a taller rider.

Thanks for any input

If you're a taller rider I'd get the KTM or GG.   The shorter suspension of the Husky is great for touching the ground for stubby legs but pointless for tall guys.   Even for short me, the only advantage is when stopped.  The full length suspension is better when riding.

‘24 gasgas is also the new platform if you want taller suspension but not orange. However Gasgas has had softer suspension settings up until ‘23. If you don’t plan on revalving you may have to suck it up and get orange. They sell taller bars and taller bar mounts if you like the stock bend but want it taller.

Yeah I’m waiting to see what the gas gas comes out with for the new updates.
Yeah I might get stuck with the orange

I have a KTM 350SXF and I bought my 16 year old a 22 TC 125 last year.  I normally race my 350, but every once in awhile I race my kids 125.  This 125, just like the rest of the Husqvarna MX bikes are lowered 10mm and on the track I dont really notice, except it corners a tad better, but I cant tell if thats from the lowered suspension or just the light feeling of the bike.  Im 5'11" and I dont notice the height except at the starting gate when I can be flat footed.  Now, if your well over 6 foot then I could see why how that 10mm could make a difference.

I’m usually not hooked on this color or that but I’m another that can’t do the the KTM orange.

The GaaGas softer suspension is appealing to an older slower guy like myself.  I seem to be reading more and more about GasGas, I’m getting interested in a 350.  Be interesting to see what the 24 GG 350 changes are.

I’ve read the same about turning better being lower, wasn’t sure with the lower bend how it would be. I’m 6’1 so not much taller.
thanks for the input.

Yeah I’ve looked into buying new plastics etc if I go with the ktm.. or buying husky plastics.. seems like a waste though.

im waiting to see what the 350 for the gas gas is coming with. Suspension doesn’t matter as I’ll get my suspension done anyway but I hope it goes to black rims.

The factory editions are the new platform. Obviously we don’t know if the standard models will have silver wheels and forged clamps but otherwise you can see the changes vs ktm.

The orange grows on you as you get used to the bike (especially if you love it)

At 5,9. I’m not a fan of the lowered suspension. I traded a Vital member my Husky suspension for his taller KTM stuff. Just feels more normal.

The husky stuff is good on tracks that aren’t super rough and turns better maybe. But all around KTM feels more versatile.

Yup, the lower suspension really only has a performance advantage on flat, smooth corners.  The normal length suspension is better on bumps, chatter, rolling whoops, bumpy ruts, etc.  I only recommend the lower stuff for really short people who need it for like off road type stuff where you're stopping/touching a lot or for MX if you're maybe under 5'5" or so.  The short stuff is less of a compromise on a light bike like a 125 but more so on a heavy 4 stroke or with a heavier rider.

I have a normal length FC350 and a short TC125.   My buddy's son just got on a GG 125 and is 5'3 and 105 lbs.  We put my short suspension on his bike since he needs it more than I do.  It's good for someone that small but otherwise you're kind of giving up travel for nothing.

Also, it's a lot easier and cheaper to swap plastic than suspension!

Ahh ok, makes sense. Yeah I looked at what I had to change to go back to stock length and it’s much cheaper for plastics haha.

thanks for the info

Getting a new 350 and doing suspension it would seem changing out a few plastics is a  pretty minor add on if you hate the orange. Get the KTM.

Meaning I should have kept the 19 as it was 2k cheaper and I did the spring conversion anyway . I did get them a year apart though
