I know we often times are discussing how we would like to see outside sponsors involved with teams in our sport. This year for example MCR has done it with the Hitchin Hotels and Team Solitaire has Heartbeat Hotsause. The one I see constantly is TLD. They have WOW WOW Waffles, Puma, Atari Hotels, etc. So how is Troy truly getting this done and selling these companies?
Troy Lee has spent his entire adult life networking with potential sponsors.
He actually has the right people marketing his brand, not some industry bro.
I’d say being so big in the mtb world has more than doubled his exposure to different sponsors with mtb being more international. Moto is always split between US and MXGP efforts but mtb is a true World Series and he has the brand represented very well
Most of their mtb Equipment is spot on too !! My ass feels much better after a 2 hr ride with my troy lee liner !!

Logan Karnow is riding directly for only fans this year, love it.

He also has a tool that most teams don't.
He sells a massive line of apparel, gear and helmets.
He can ask/tell those potential sponsors/companies if they want a logo to be on the merch he sells and that is a huge added benefit.
Makes the sell much easier.
The hats, tshirts, sweatshirts and more all have multiple logos on them and they are shipped worldwide.
He can also ask them if there is a product or something that they would want him to sell as well, brilliant.
That's a personal deal. Which is much easier to get and much lower cost.
OP is talking about out-of-sport team sponsors which is much more $$ and much more involved to get.
Tons of privateers have out-of-sport sponsors. But these deals can be anywhere from $5000-50k (sometimes a bit more for higher level guys doing programs). Whereas a team deal is 6 figures.
He has also been involved in designing for outside the industry brands . That may have opened the door to talk with some of the right people too.
Haha oops.
