Other than the obvious of dropping the fork legs, more sag and longer rear axle position, are there any other setups to reduce headshake and oversteer on this bike? Suspension is valved and sprung correctly, but would like to get a bit more rear steering feel, if that makes sense, thx!
That bike is super good in the sand! I had a GPR steering damper on mine. Stiffen the forks a little and drop the forks flush, it's awesome.
Snug up the steering stem nut... other than what was already mentioned.
.
Install a Pro Circuit linkage arm (longer) to drop the back of the bike. Makes a very noticeable difference in stability (while also dropping the forks flush in the clamps)
Steering damper. Scott’s or precision rp (if they make a kit).

why on earth would you need a steering damper. ridden in sand all my life. only had a damper on one bike and took it off. sand tires sand tires sand tires. ride loose. use momentum.
Do you like the Kenda’s over the Pirelli Scorpion MX soft?
That Kenda rear looks beastly!
it looks awesome!
What tires are you running?
Any feedback on other sand tires?
"sand tires sand tires sand tires. ride loose. use momentum."
Yup, momentum momentum momentum. Technique technique technique. Learn to enjoy the feeling of the front pushing just a bit as you lean as gasit.
If you're committed, a set of longer offset triple clamps.
Michelin Starcross 5 soft and Kenda Sand Mad. I have the Starcross 5 soft front on 7 of my bikes. it is the best front for deep sand period. used to be called the S12. I have the Sand Mad on 3 of my bikes. not only does it have great paddles, but the large gaps clean it out fast. those gaps are a little slick on wet roots though. I have torn a few chunks out of the smaller paddles. the starcross sand 5 rear is pretty good. haven't tried the Starcross sand 6.
the best tip I give new sand riders is to not fight the bike. give the bike its head to some degree and guide it, don't fight it.
most of you need to read the OP's question...
same set up.
I never used 1 either. The 04 cr125 head stem can b tightened more than a 05. Stiffer on the forks , springs, comp. More sag on rear. But I forget comp or rebound adjustments on which way to go. My FC revalve is for Millville whoops. So I should b Good there. I just saw they hv a NEW Vet race on June 33 old Man Madness. Basically I try to get it Perfect for the whoops and deal with it if it’s off for other parts of track. I can make more time up in whoops than the rest of the track. pastrana says 6 seconds that seems like a lot.
Oh Rear steering feel ? I say more sag , hang off to the back more. Manual like your riding a 125. Just avoid the hidden hard square holes . With weight back bike control is lost, backend kick
What are you racing Dakar? Just go ride and have fun
