Only $1.3 million? That's a pretty damn good deal. That money would get you a 3bed 2bath track home with no lot where I live. California blows.

They are giving it away.

I wonder why?

Does this give credibility to "no money in mx..."?

Consider: Who would buy such a place...other than wanting a race facility? Say I want the land to develop.....how much is it going to cost to get rid of all the other stuff? Who wants to live at a race track?

The land here would be worth $2 mil raw. The home $1 mil. Not considering any commercial viability. I'm in TX.

It's almost like things are worth different amounts depending on location.

It also says sub divide is possible so it may be zoned kind of funky and will be a pain if you ever want to split it up.

There has to be someone who wants a 4,600sf 5 bed home on 200 acres for 1.3m. The racetrack and all the other stuff is a bonus. Most of that can be sold and it’s not hard to turn a track back into pasture land if that’s what you want

Look at where it is on a map. Not a hot bed of development. Not that that is a bad thing.

It is a big country, just sayin'.......

anybody that has ever been there knows that they would come out better giving the land away, but charging a penny a rock in perpetuity.....

There are a few there.

Not sure why. It had the best soil of all the tracks.

I dig your banter, but I cant tell if you're being serious or not.
Theres no Soil on the track there. Its a rock quarry with manure on top, often not mixed in. If somebody buys it and wants to be profitable as a business it would be a stone quarry. Live 35 mins or so away, and i'd rather not ride at all than ride there. Nothing against the Hurds, just is what itis.

Hopefully someone buys it to revive the place. Back when northeast classics and loretta qualifiers were held there the dirt and layout was good, now not so much. Turnouts were always pretty good too, especially when they ran the national hill.

We would make the trek from SE Pa every summer a few times to race from the mid 80's into the 90's. I'll never forget the rocks LOL I'll also never forget watching Carmichael dominate on his 125 and the jaws drop when he was hucking that downhill triple. Also watching the 80's legends on their factory 500's. That place has a ton of history. However, If you look at Zillow in that area it's pretty cheap to buy property there. I'd say if you wanted to buy a job, a very hard fun job and you have the money, it's a great opportunity.

Soil is long gone now.

Like another member stated, it's rock with dirt sprinkled on top. I saw recent pictures and it's so far from what I remember the nationals there looking like.

I will always remember it an amazing place, watching Doug Henry and RC clinch titles there.

The way I understood it, the Hurds didn't want to do upgrades that whoever was running the nationals was requiring. So they sold the rights to hold a national to Freestone.

As it would in certain areas of NY closer to NYC.   Broome is southern Tier.  It’s beautiful but not a lot going on as one of the others mentioned.  The track is a shell of what it was but it could be brought back.  Always can bring in dirt. Can’t replace the layout

Locals always had heavy duty pipe guards and hand guards.

Broome was the 1st track I ever saw a rock picker pulled behind a tractor at.

I LOVED the long down hill!!!

Then buy it. Just $1.3 mil eh?

Very few people have $1.3 to have their own race facility for kicks.

Just sale what ya got and move there.....no? Can't.....just do that? Nobody can either.

And NY? Well there's that...

Yeah I was kidding. Haha I went threw the area going to Baldwinsville NY. Unld. Ld  in Scenectady NY. Beautiful scenery across NY. Following the Tomahawk river. Going to Johnstown NY. Next.  Our local track is hills and valleys with a lot of rocks. I do a Lap walking throwing rocks off the line I want to use.

If only there were a promotion family that has been in the sport for a long time with several medias that other like minded enthusiasts could subscribe too could buy this track, if only there were an association that I we all gave 49 dollars a month for years and years that was supposed to save riding areas would just buy this track. If only the leaders of this organization would talk about saving these track constantly and even go to take pictures of the old run down tracks and as soon as the track goes up for sale they go radio silent would put their money where there mouths were.

Johnstown’s my neck of the woods. Or the twig as some locals call it. When you’re in town let me know. I can show you a fine establishment open 24 hrs to grab yourself a drink and eat our famous staple of Mac & gravy. Where the graveyard shift cook barehands the mozz sticks and chicken tenders from the fryer while sneaking shooters of Jack Daniels. If you’re lucky he might even leave you a little bathroom nose candy for dessert.
