I would say that is a reasonable prediction. Would be nice if they finish higher than that though.

Top 5 maybe! I don't see how being REALISTIC about how well you THINK they'll finish isn't being supportive? It's not like people are hoping they lose, we just don't think we have a strong team given some of the other country's teams.

I'll guess first but I think second is more realistic. Aus has the best team on paper but taking into account how bad they always do gives USA a chance IMO.

Lets see what you think the finishing order is individually. By rider, remember that the track is supercrossy, and a local countryman might do a bit better than usual too.

Here are some things to consider:

Everyone agrees that the track has a supercross flavor to it.

American riders in general do very well at supercross.

Dungey and Weimer had a great battle for the 250 West Coast supercross title.

Dungey was closing in on Pourcel at Vegas like a lion on a gazelle and simply ran out of time in the 15-20 minute moto.

Dungey almost won a supercross last year on a 450.

Tedesco is a 2-time former Lites supercross champion.

I'd say it's looking pretty doggone good for the Americans. In fact, the Australians with Reed, Byrne, and Metcalfe are the only team that has similar supercross strengths. My personal opinion is that barring anything crazy bad happening to either team (starts, etc.) this could very well come down to a U.S./Australia battle.

Agreed pilotdude. If anything....I would say the US has a slight advantage over Aus - Reed should have Dungey covered, and IT and Byrner should be close....I'd say Weimer has the edge on Metty, especially on starts.

Marvin Musquin is gonna do some serious damage (Cairoli-Villopoto-type damage) on a personal performance, I predict.

France would have a very serious chance at winning if Pourcel had been in (and even more with BOTH Pourcel's !).

But Paulin and Aubin are rather unproven on 450's at that level, so I'll go with Australia, Italia and the US (in no particular order).

Agreed. Although there has been a big difference in Byrner's riding since he has been hanging with Chad. He has picked up some extra speed. I think he will have IT covered if he gets a top 5 start.

I think it will be hard for Chad unless he gets atleast top 5 starts.

Anddd Metty should be consistantly top 5, and even push for a moto win... Could this be Metty's time to shine?

I was referring to the Aussies as the favorites. Reed is at the top of his game, and Metcalfe - Weimer and Byrne -Tedesco are pretty much equal matches in my book.

I would not be surprised to see USA win, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. Counting out France and Italy would be foolish too.
