Emig and Shift part ways after 25 years

Crazy that they have been together that long. I've always thought Shift had the best looking gear year in and year out. Emig is all time favorite rider so I maybe biased. I've only worn 2 brands of gear since I started riding SMP and Shift, and started wearing Shift because the SMP gear drove my dad nuts haha.

It's impressive they've been together for so long.  What other rider, (save for maybe JM?), has been retired from racing for eleventy-seven years and still has a riding gear deal?

Sorry briefly scrolled the first page and didn't see anything. Feel free to delete this thread.

No worries. It was brought up and some were wondering if Shift was completely killed off. With Emig departing it sure appears like they are done. They switched Josh Hansen to Fox as well.

I saw it but didn’t want to make a thread speculating about the end if it wasn’t true. So I dug up that old thread. Either way sucks emig wont be with them if they keep making it. He’s the face of the brand and the reason I started wearing it in the first place in the 90’s. All good things must come to an end though. Cool run and cool story either way!

Emig is the reason I began wearing Shift back in the day. Always thought it was the best looking gear ever along with No Fear and a few AXO styles.

Then RC had to come along and took the fun out of the sport. Haha the late 90's and early 2000's were the best era of the sport imo. Parties, rivals would hang out, video shoots in the hills with the top guys. It's what got me hooked.

Fuck. Shift is my favorite gear brand Sad Pretty bummed not gonna lie. Though I am glad I bought some of the last Blue Label gear they had.

I feel like I see a lot of people wearing shift still.

Best looking gear ever, simple but clean. Who needs all this spandex, mesh, body cooling gear? Not to mention most of it's ugly as sin. Fro won the Troy Ohio National in 97 in sweltering heat in a black cotton jersey.

To be fair, Fro is superhuman in the heat.

It's like he doesn't even notice 😂

Looks like the captain abandoned ship just before it goes to the bottom.

I totally remember Troy in 97 with that gear, Jeff stomped them that day. Seemed like it was 200deg out that day, you just couldnt escape the heat...

I was there that day and you are correct. One thing I’ll never forget is how everyone was perfectly standing in the shadows of trees. Not even an inch of folks were outside of the shadows. Lol

Gear has changed a lot in the past 20 years... not everybody digs the new way of making everything tight and form fitting,  hence the nostalgia for the older stuff.  Modern materials, great, the fit sometimes not so much.  I don't need to feel like a cyclist.

Too bad shift is done, I still have a set of their seth enslow era zip off baggies.

Well what was great about Shift is they did both. The blue label stuff was as modern and fitted as anything.

There looks to be some new colourways being released in Japan and Australia, but these are the lower level line White Label. After speaking to the rider in the photos I saw, these were shot at the same time as the 2022 kits so it doesn't look like anything new will be coming out. With them dropping Hanny and Fro, it looks to be the end for Shift. I was hoping for a new direction perhaps but with the lack of social media in 2022 and that being the major marketing presence these days. I think it's done.
