Well dang, just read Sam Sunderland has crashed out already.

Dakar is a brutal bitch.

Yeah man, much respect to all the competitors. The level of balls/commitment required to be up front in desert racing makes mx/sx/enduro look like kindergarten. Crashes at 150kph v crashes at 60kph are a far different thing. And doing it all without a practice session or sight lap….

Stage 1 done

1st seeded rider Sam Sunderland in hospital.

I don't think NBCSN exists anymore. (which is part of the reason SX is barely on broadcast TV this year)

But looks like maybe NBC sports will be posting those recaps on YouTube: https://youtu.be/BCIbnPpxonc

Note to production crew: how about having someone that actually speaks English provide the commentary for English streams? The woman that narrated the lightweight prototypes made my ears bleed.

So stoked for Mason, he’s in Elite company now.

I’m hoping he has a great day tomorrow, it could change everything for him.

I don't know shit about Dakar, but why is there a "speed limit" in a race? Huh

I just re-subbed to Peacock for Sx... However this is a pleasant surprise the coverage of this wonderful rally raid.

pretty damn exciting to say the least. Im hoping ricky and toby and klien are all on the podium in any order!

Bummer for the dude who went down because of the rock under the sand.

160km is the max speed limit in the special stages. 160 is fairly moving

Transfer sections I'm pretty sure are whatever the legal speed limit is but can't be sure. I could ask the question

   from Daker web site

weather bike race halted at CP2 &CP3

degration in weather

for the organisers to guarantee best safety for competors riders halted at CP2 (335Km) & CP3 (377Km)

the top riders had already finished so their times will be maintained

for others times will be calculated according to each riders accomplishments on the first part of the stage.

Not the news I wanted to wake up to with Brabec, but thankful so far that he seems okay...

Really hoping for a good result for Sanders, honestly think he would've won it last year if not for that really unfortunate and frankly stupid (not on his part) accident

Brabec crashed during Stage 3 Special. Thankfully, the scans of his neck are clear. He has a concussion and will be monitored overnight in the hospital.
