I am amazed that he knows which engine belongs to who and how much money goes along with each one. As disorganized as he seems to be he must have been keeping track of that info somehow. Can’t believe he is taking care of this after all this time. Maybe Pasha is loaning him the money to try and make everyone whole….. ? Who knows.
Just as heads up, cause I'm very certain it'll get brought up here. We just posted a project bike video from a friend of mine's build. We didn't know it had Varner work until the day of the shoot but we promised to shoot the bike. I mention we don't condone him in the video, it's also tagged in the video comment section on YouTube, and once it goes on site here in a minute...it'll have a similar note with it.

What he did is shitty and shady. But no one knows is going on in his personal life, it's not an excuse for his buisness practices. I have a good friend who worked his ass of to build up a successful plumbing buisness out of nothing. He found out his wife was cheating on him for a few years and she eventually left him and moved in with the new guy with my buddies 2 kids. He couldn't handle it and lost all credibility after taking money and doing shit jobs and sometimes no job at all. He went into a deep funk and lost everything and just drank everyday for 3 years. He eventually got his shit together. He had alot of apologizing and money to return. Sometimes you never know what some one is dealing with in their private lives, I'm not justifying what he did. But you never know what a person is fighting. I'm glad he's trying to right his wrongs.

Plenty of people have those things happen to them and don't slide down that dark hole. Character means something. Do I judge him for not being able to handle it? Nope.
But he needs to be held accountable.

Like I said, plenty of people have their spouses cheat on them, kids pass away, and all kinds of things and never turn around and absolutely screw everyone else over. Oh and by the way, during that time he was screwing over the every day man, you bet your ass the industry guys were getting their motors done.
Totally agree. However....I do feel some empathy for him, just imagining how difficult and overwhelming the hole he's dug for himself must be. The only way back is to make every single person he's screwed over whole (at least returning parts and money with some pretty heartfelt apologies). It's very rare to see someone come back from something like this, but it has been done. For his sake and his remaining family (and his customers) I genuinely hope he resolves to fix things. He's got the talent and skillset to do great things, but obviously has some pretty bad habits and impulsive/compulsive behaviors he's gotta figure out first.
Taking down your review is a disservice to others. Update it perhaps, but people should be aware of his past before doing business with him. It's on him to establish a track record of doing right.
I'm not defending him or his actions. I'm just saying everybody handles personal situations differently. I would be pissed too if I was one of the members here who got f'd over without a doubt. But no one knows what has been going on in his life, nor is it our business. It also sounds like he is taking accountability for his wrongs. Again I'm not defending him, I've just have seen one thing happen to send a person into a tailspin.
If whatever is going on in his life has made him screw people out of thousands of dollars, all while CONTINUING to provided motors for industry people, then it completely is off the table as an excuse or a reason. Period.
I get you're trying to be empathetic, but the simple fact he has continued to provide reliable service to his buddies while screwing everyone else over takes it all off the table.
Like I said, and I agree with you, some things send SOME people into tailspins. The fact anyone is defending or even trying to give him the benefit of the doubt at all is ridiculous.
There have been photos posted of him at Glen Helen with his buddies who he's done motors for....at the same time he's ducking people who have already paid him and/or given him motors.
There is a place for grace and understanding, Varner deserves neither.
I agree. Sounds like he's taking care of the big name clients and guys he's known for a while that pay well just to be able to pay his bills. Who knows. Hopefully he is getting his shit together and is looking to fix the mistakes he's made. I have no skin in the game and completely feel for the guys who got screwed over the years. Hopefully it all get's resolved, a lot of these who got f'd over have great patience. I respect that.
The only 2 left in this thread who we cannot determine whether or not they received their engines back are EJRACING from Norway (Page 16 of this thread), and JSWALTERY729 (Page 23 of this thread). Everyone else looks to have been covered / received their stuff back. Any updates on / from those two?
Not recieved my engine or parts as of today.
Varner recieved engine and parts in september 2019 - the bike was set up to run the EMX 125cc class in 2020 but it is still unused in my garage..

I have still not received my motor back. I’ve been calling Varner every single week and haven’t heard back anything since he didn’t answer my call and sent the auto text “I’ll call you back” on August 19th of this year. It’s been over 2 and a half years since he revived my motor with payment and I still am yet to find out if my motor is at least still there and not used out for parts. Especially frustrating after seeing the motor cross action magazine video from a fully built KTM 125 from 3 weeks ago where Varner is actually in the video. Can’t believe this guy is still getting business from industry guys.

Terry has had my 2003 CR250 engine with new oem cylinder, oem 05+ crank, piston etc. for about 2 years now. He hasn't been in contact with me for over a year and will not respond to me in any way. I live in Oregon and currently have no way of getting to his shop. I recently found this thread while searching for ways to get in contact with him. If anyone will pick up my stuff and send it back I'll cover shipping and pay you to return it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. He also has a air stryker carb I sent him separately in a small box everything else was in a larger plastic tote. I was extremely patient with him and got so tired of waiting I ended up getting a cheap 06 RM250 and had it rebuilt by tom Morgan and completed a full restoration on it while waiting on my CR to get done. The only reason I sent it to him was because he told me he'd have it done in a few weeks during the covid lock down and had only heard positive things from magazine articles. I now know I should've done more research and will never take any advice from anyone in so cal.
Terry’s not making people “whole” or repenting for his sins, he’s borrowing parts and money for 2 years and then giving em back without interest. Is he giving you back those years where your bike was collecting dust and taking up space? What about all the rides you missed on that bike? Never getting those days back.
All he’s doing is lowering the number of VMs he gets and keeping himself out of small claims court. He’s still a scam artist. That money he’s paying back to people probably came from some unfortunate customer who won’t get his stuff back for another 2 years.
