Swan is a private track and must have a membership unless they are racing. Outlaw MX is near and Buffalo Creek is about 40 minutes away. East Tx is beautiful and the dirt is red clay to sand mix. Nice place to visit and I'm sure more tracks are in the area.
Barnwell mountain has a 30 mile long single track that is worth a day!
Don't know what your budget might be. Some think Swan is worth it, even for a few days. If you can hook up with a current member as one of the "family", all the better. Barnwell is a great single track/trails area. And I just saw someone mentioning a new track out that way on FB. WPB if I can find it.

Texas Winter Series starts new years weekend at Freestone...Swan the following weekend...
There are a lot of places and types of riding in east Texas. Tapt House is open during the week. Buffalo Creek is more fun than most people will admit. Athens MX has great sand and it has great owners. RedBug is a small but fun track a little south of Tyler. Barnwell has a bunch of trails, but lots of rocks and roots. Plus a bunch of small "private" tracks that you could ride with invites. DM me, as I'm off of work the first two weeks of the year. Sure I could help find places. My cousin and I also do some trail rides on pitbikes lol.
Swan is worth it if you get the chance, I like Buffalo creek it always seems like it was just prepped everytime I am there. keep in mind, that time of year in Texas it can be 80 degrees, or it could be snow and ice.
I tried to go to Red Bug middle of the week but the message on their phone said closed due to rain. Headed back to the lake house Wed. or so to paint a screened in porch. Red Bug is about 35 min from our little lake place. May drag a scooter with me and sneak off from painting and get a quick ride in if they are open. Never been there, would like to give it a try. I’ll plan to ride Ultimate MX on Tuesday. It’s a long long ways from Tyler area.
Tyler is nice area. We looked for property in the area once but didn’t put much effort in it. I like East Texas, my semi high society wife doesn’t even though she is originally from Jefferson Co. In far Southeast Tx.
Lot of Tracks in East Tx.
Around the Athens area is a hidden gem. The town is like a small town with almost every store you could need. Northwest inside the loop is ghetto but everywhere else is awesome. Lots of country living and good people. And around Lake Athens is definitely high society.
Many Vital threads on Texas tracks you can search to gain insight. You didn’t say if you are camping or no? Reason asking is track locations in North TX are general divided East, South East, West, and North West from Dallas. Being mobile is key. Also not many midweek options. @his956facility is an excellent midweek option near Paradise, TX with camping facilities.
All above mentioned are good.
Hit up Unground Mx and see if you can do drop in day training. Nice little backyard track is The Pit in tool tx, open every day
Swan is good but you're within driving distance of a hot bed for tracks. Oak Hill MX, River Valley MX, and Village Creek MX are all worth the trip to DFW. Underground is great but they don't do many open practice days. A couple hours west you've got 3 Palms which is a fantastic facility, legendary Rio Bravo, Cycle Ranch. Really just Google Texas Motocross Tracks and you'll get 20 options that are within reasonable driving distance.
Johnsonville Farm MX is in that area, great track, and good people.
Werd
I GET NAMED AFTER THIS CITY AND PRESIDENT JOHN TYLER THATS THE GUY WHO GIVED US TEXAS IT DOSENT FAR FORM ATHENS I THINK THE BEST TRACK IN TEXAS IS CYCUL RANCH BUT THATS CLOSE FREESTONE
Haven’t decided on what the best option is yet. Leaning towards throwing 3 bikes in the truck and getting an Airbnb centrally located. Dragging the toy hauler is an option but with diesel prices 18 mpg sounds a lot cheaper than 9-10 mpg.
About time you showed up!!
Pit Row
I completely agree, if you are coming to Texas to ride moto I would start on the western side of DFW then work my way down I35, plenty of good tracks in that direction and trail riding in the hill county. Nothing against the Tyler area tracks, but there are only a couple, and they are not always open.
FYI, Athens MX also opens up their new supercross track this weekend (for advance riders only). If you like that sort of thing!
956 is the best place to ride in DFW. Open 5 days a week usually. Best prep, new layout every day.
Ride that during the week. River Valley and Village are close by.
Swan/Underground/Johnsonville likely wont be open. Everything else is pretty sub par. I agree with above, stay on the West side of DFW.
Trey (Swan owner) helped build Athens, so it should be good.
If you make it to Texas let me know, Ill come out and ride too
Post a reply to: Texas folks, Tyler Texas area!!!!
