Neal Fox has created a course on how to write, record and mix music professionally. It's amazingling complete and told in laymans terms. I was a Beta tester. https://allmusicmatters.thinkific.com/?fbclid=IwAR0H3XTA7eMCQQx-yvSy0dTTNyRORpBrp7ahpt_NUy6J2JzQoKerrMxjjCM
I have a cousin in NJ that has a pro analog studio in the old RCA bldg. He sends me rough tracks and I have to say, recording on 1" tape really is something. It's such a different animal. But then Quincy Jones would disagree! lol

I had the 1/2" tape studio prosumer in the 80's bought it right when the adat came out and I think the Session 8 came out.
But I went with the analog equipment.
Well about 10 years after that, I started going down the never ending ProTools hardware and software, and never sounded as good as the tape machine and I had DAT also, but it was good for I what needed.
I gave the whole analog studio to my older brother hoping he would do something with it, but he sold it all, bad move on my part, but I learned don't give 60's acid heads cool stuff.
So, my current setup is Protools, Studio One, and UA software and two UA Apollo interfaces with Lighting 3 I like it, but it always seems like there is something missing - I did add a few Warm outboard stuff comp and preamps seems like I'm now getting something better more like the compressed analog tape.
On the guitar side I have maybe 9 high end cop getter tube amps but never use them (but I'm going to make ISO box soon like Tim Pierce uses during his master class stuff) but I've been using the Kemper have a hard time mixing this in, and AxeFX Fm3 works really well but I still want the loud amp overdriven sound with the ribbon mic and 57 will see how that works when I get time to build the ISO cab.
But it the end I need to keep learning more about the whole recording process
But the good thing about starting the Warm is there are cheap copies seem to be good enough to start on adding analog stuff back into my system - I also have ISA-428 for drums but I'm not recording live drums anymore and use a Roland drum set and Superior 3 drums most of the time.
I don't record that often anymore. I'm using Reaper with an M-Track interface. Probably the last thing I recorded was the demo on my amp build. There is a thread on it here somewhere.
I notice that some songs just mix down and flow while others are a total pain.
I don't play much blues stuff, used to that is really what it's about but for playing for so long I have issues with my hands and my left wrist so I try and play a little bit every month for fun, maybe I'm not that old started playing at 6 years old (from my brothers one playing Neil Young and the other 60's and 70's rock bands) and I'm still playing and I'm turning 60 tomorrow.
Yeah right. I think you're softening me up because you want that mixer and midi controller.
That was the reason I got rid of the tape and mixer and also got rid of the last acoustic drum set that I had they take up way too much room.
Nope I really like what you played - I'm stuck in the 80's-90's metal stuff, but I've been doing Tim Pierce master classes and Leon Todd stuff when I have time and learning a whole bunch of new stuff, it's still fun to jam.
I write a lot of Great songs would b interested in how to get them licensed. Then sell them. I would like to record a few songs. I would prefer the pressure of a high dollar studio. To hear your own song on the radio would b cool. Then higher a singer to tour and promote the music. I would find it boring to sing the same songs even if there mine. People yelling sing my favorite song. I,d b like fu or they hold there phone up recording. That would suck your supposed to let yourself go threw the music .
When you say you write songs, are these just lyrics or are they lyrics and melody? Do you record any of it?
You've likely seen this video, but it's a great back and forth about analog vs. digital with Steve Albini and Ken Andrews: https://www.teachertube.com/videos/analog-vs-digital-151070
When the analog guy said that splicing tape was just as easy digital editing I quit watching. Pure bullshit.
Just lyrics something to do on the rd. I do a lot of paradies The Cars album candy o I changed all the songs lyrics to Suzuki lyrics.
Pit Row
Suzuki lyrics? What do you mean?
Yeah. Post em up.
Candy-O is an all time great that shouldn’t be messed with🤨
not to mention some of the best album cover artwork EVER.
Meh , never cared for The Cars . It is a good album cover though
Wow. Have you listened to their first two albums in their entirety? Not for everyone, but I think their sound and production was way ahead of their time.
Yeah . Just not into their sound . Been awhile though so maybe I'll revisit it
I get that. It’s funny though how the older I get the more I find myself listening to things I wouldn’t have given the time of day back in my teens or twenties. Blues are a perfect example.
Yeah, I'm firmly in the digital camp, too.
I have to hold her down, keep tires on the ground...
When she says...
Let's go!
I like the kickstart, baby!
Boooooooooo!! 😂
I'm just waiting for Profeshenal125's lyrics!
It's all I can do
to keep repairing you...
Or something like that. Probably has a few lines about truck stop hookers wanting to ride on the back.
😄😄😄
